I have a chance to pick up a clean, relatively new Starcraft Fishmaster 160 open aluminium boat with a 25 HP Merc and a galvanized trailer for $2500. I would use it for fair weather trolling in Elliot Bay and possibly Mukilteo/Posession. Anyone have any input, opinions or other on this. I thought it sounded like a good deal, but didn't know much about the boat.

I had a 16' Wide Body Starcraft with 25 horse merc that I bought new in 94 and just sold this year for $4000. I think it is the same or similar to the model you are talking about. It was open with no seat in the middle for more room.

It was a great boat for lakes and the 25 horse moved it along fine. I used it out on the sound, but I was reluctant to cross the sound in it. It was not the best boat in rough water as it got pretty wet. If you are careful about the weather it works just fine in the sound.

2500 with the merc sounds like a good price to me considering what I got for mine. Mine sold in about five minutes after I posted the add at work.

Hopes this helps.

I took an old 16' Starcraft 7 miles south of Tatoosh Island on one of my before family Neah Bay trips but I wouldn't sugest it. I would however buy that 160 for $ 2500 if you don't. Let me know if you pass on it.
