Why do coho make a run up the rivers after heavy rains. Do they school up at the mouth of a river, then push up or what? After all this rain, would the sound still be productive for coho, or not?

Why does rain pull salmon into the river systems?

Fish seem to instinctively know that more flow in a river equals easier traveling over shallow areas. While the center of the river is flowing like a mother the sides are still easily passable to a fish.

Sled,
There are still a lot of coho out in the sound and plenty on the way with chums right behind them. Don't give up hope yet. It should remain good through September and usually well into October, although your concern is valid. With all the rain and cool weather these fish won't hold in the salt as long as they usually do in September and Oct.

Kinda funny because the kings seemed to be a bit late this year but the coho are sprinting like mad.

Thanks for the info Kramer
Im a big History Channel viewer, and saw this thing about salmon and their spawning instincts. I remember something about scents from the rain passing through the dirt and giving it a distinct scent or whatnot. Pretty interesting stuff, wish I could remember more. If you have any info about that as well, I would like to hear about it. Thanks
