...and for the record, the hoh was not chocolate milk on Thursday, fri, saturday or sunday. I don't know where you are getting your info or what the heck you are looking at. We as well as the few other boats that fished it did well for as early as it is.

the good weather that's forecast would seem to indicate the boys doing the work out on the project will be finished if not on schedule than very close to it...

I heard they were supposed to be finished by the first of October...no recent pics unfortunately and I don't think I'll be down that way til after the weekend.

okay...i was able to sneak downriver and grab a few more quick shots...

...when someone asked me before why I hated it and I said because it just didn't feel right seeing all that heavy equiptment on the river bar?

This shot pretty much exemplifies what I meant...

....and I know, what else are they gonna do, right?

It does make me feel better though to see that what they are doing looks good, if nothing else...here is the best shot I could get of the log jams...

..and for good measure...

...you can see that things have progressed to the point where they are letting water back into the old channel. We drifted by it on Saturday and all the water was still in the old channel.

Progress, eh?

H2O,
Those are great shots!!
Thanks for posting them.
Completely a different perspective looking down from the HWY side.
It looks good with log jams in place and water flow happening.
Log jams should be so much better than just plain dikes along side of HWY built out of riprap.
I may be going thru the old channel passing by new log jams on my next float trip!
I really hope this project will serve its purpose for many many years to come. ;\)

Yes, h20, thank you for the photos. Of all the rivers I have seen in Wa., not very many, I find the Hoh to be most interesting. I plan on spending lots of time there.

I'll be the guy standing on the bank with wrong gear, in a spot that never holds a fish with a clueless expression on my face. Give me time, I'll figure it out. For me, there's nothing more exciting than learning a new river.

WOW - They have really made some progress since I've been there. Big equipment moving through. Can't say I like seeing that either H2O but at least it's happening before the major push of spawners. Though obviously fish are around now. Just a guess but the well being of the Hoh salmon run is probably why this deadline was set. Anyone know for sure?

H20, Jaydee:

What you describe IS possible. Clear in one spot, and 2 miles downriver its clear as mud.

Skagit River, above, then below the Sauk is a case in point. 3 ft+ above, 2" below. (at times).

You guys worry too much over little things..

Mike

This topic was posted on the 18th and the lower river was pretty icky that week. It seemed that the project had to do with the clarity since the visibility was better up at oxbow. Not an atempt to misinform anyone.
