I'd like to go out to Shishole in the morning before work but would only be able to fish from 6:45- 9:30 or so. The tide tables show that low tide is going to occur at 4:28 am and high tide at 12:11 am.

I'm told that it's best to fish for the two hours preceding a low or high tide. It looks like I'll miss the prime fishing time. Is that correct and if so, would it still be worth going or does the time relative to the tide make a huge difference?

There are distinct feeding periods through out the day. You have the tide change bite(s) and the first light and last light bite. For coho, the first light bite can last up to several hours. If there is a tide change near the first light bite catching can be extremely good.

\:\) Yes tides influence but DONT EVER put off a fishing trip if you can't hit the tide changes!!! So many of my fish have come half way thru the tide changes when most every one else has packed it in and hit the docks spouting the "they've all gone up the river rhetoric". For kings and silvers the old "find the bait and find the fish" rule holds pretty constant any time of the tide.(Old habits are hard to break) \:D Good luck out there \:\)

Most of my fish have come closer to tide changes. Highs seem to be better than lows.
But almost all of my big PS silvers have come when fishing had slowed in mid day.
