Late morning today a couple of people were swept away by the current while trying to reach the little island below the falls. One person, a minor, was pulled ashore by the bank fishermen along the bar. The other an adult was pulled under and was found down river by people in sleds. Some of the guys jumped in and pulled him up to the beach. But despite a exstensive and I must say a very HONERABLE effort of the fisherman in the boats, doing CPR and shutteling the parametics and their gear back and forth across the river, the poor guy did'nt make it.
I have no confirmation on death, but when the police returned, I was told that the family had recieved bad news at the hospital.

I don't want to sound morbid, but things like this happen all the time, year after year. So PLEASE BE CAREFULL!!!!! NO FISH IS WORTH ANYONES LIFE.

More bad news. Very sad to say the least. Seems that when it rains it pours. There sure seems to have been alot of strange drownings this year.
I can't remember how many times I've done completly stupid wading to get to a better looking drift.
You are completly correct, no fish is worth losing your life over.

What Island are you talking about below the falls, I don't recall?
Are you talking about the island just below the boat launch on the left? I didn't know it got that shallow there?
Heres my .02 cents: "Be prepared to fall" Accidents DO happen. There are soooo many fisherman out there with huge EGOS that they will refuse to the end to wear a pfd or use a wading stick.
I've got this PFD:
http://cabelas.com/cabelas/en/templates/...tId=cat21312&pa rentType=index&rid=&cmCat=MainCatcat21276&hasJS=true

You don't even know you have it on and there is zero obstruction!
