You should wait till October 8,9,10.
There is a Salmon Derby check it out back on the main forum under Chehalis River Samon Derby...

Went down this morning for the opener. The Launch at Montesano was crowded to say the least I have never seen so many boats on a weekday.
Went one for two on kings saw no silvers where I was, Catching seemed real slow for the amount of boats on the water.

I check with several friends that were out today. I believe the average was .008 fish per person or about 4 fish for 400 plus fishermen.
Don't believe everything you read in the Seattle papers.
