Just wanted you guys to know that the article about the Humptulips river in FH news is not very accurate at all. They listed the hathery in the wrong spot and posted numerous launches that are not on the river. Just want you to know, so that there are no surprises. I hate surprises when it uses up fishing time.

I was thinking of going and have never been there before. I plan on bringing my drift boat. Where would be the best place to find info about the launches, takeouts, camping, hotels, stores, etc? Is it really that bad of a zoo? Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Let me know before you go and I could fill you in on the public access that is available. There were times last year when guys who had fished it years ago, found out that some of the old launches are not publicly accessible, I think a few had to drift at dark to get out. Be prepared for the crowds because there are a number of people that fish it, and public access is limited with a large portion private lands.
side note: Its going to be an interesting year with the early rains bringing in so many fish before the opener in combination with the netting schedule. Hm!?!? I am wondering if it will be lights out?, or, disappointing?

What was a matter with his post he didnt say anything about where to fish or anything else come on it is people like you people are afraid to post anything on this board. Besides did he give away a huney hole someone was asking for help and he was happy to provide it. I will gladly give any fishing reports if people ask it is just common courtesy. Which obviously you have none. My .02 and I am sure other people agree!!!!!!

Stlhd_Dreaming, I agree with you. A good part of belonging to this board is exchanging reports and information.
Beachmack, thanks for passing the info on about the map in Fishing and Hunting news.

Rivernut,
Thanks for your concern but if you remember the last time F&H published anything about the hump, everyone and their dog showed up!! As for the locals, we would aprreciate some understanding of what is public and private. Much of the Hump is NOT accessible in places that was noted, therfore, keep off private property!!!! My assumption about the people on this board, is not anyone who picks up a rod and reel twice a year, but fisherman!!! People who actually put their time in AND do thier homework. I was also hoping to assist a few of those fisherman that used to fish years ago, that may have to drift at dark. That happened twice last year.

I dont get it, it seems to me we all joined this site to get other peoples reports and help, so whats wrong w/a guy who wants to know where he can safely put in a drift boat. Or maybe Im on here for the wrong reason.

Shawn:
There is lot's of water that is fishable from a small jet boat. Probably helps the bank and driftboat fisherpeople cause it "moves" the fish around. Sure eliminates the need for a "take out rig" and if the weather turns bad can "run for home".
10 years ago, many "bankies" at the Bluff Hole, were glad I had my jet boat. They'd hook a big king and many times the fish headed down river, I'd take them in my boat and help net the fish........1 big male took the person clear to the "helicopter hole".
It's really too bad that the river doesn't open "legally" until 10/15........there were 100's of fish from that 1st high water.......now the nets will be in.........ugh!!!!!!!!

Shawn, Congrats!! Haven't seen you for a while can't wait to wet a line again this year. B & I have been hitting the harbor untill the opener, if you are around call and come with us.
Drifter, I realize that there are many advantages to the sled, but the hump is a pretty small river when you have a large number of people topped with a bunch of sleds. The locals do frown upon them however.

Listen up guys,
The BASE map that was used was old, and the same map that was used in the October 97 edition. The boat fishing spots are good, but the launch info. is outdated.
A mistake, so what, everyone makes them.
I know some of the guys over at F&H, and the last thing they want to do is publish bad data to their readers. A correction will be made in the next edition coming out to subscribers as early as 10-13, BEFORE the opener. That edition will be on the newsstands a few days later.
BTW- The system is loaded right now with Kings and Silvers. Should be good/great fishing!
Cheers!
