This 6 lb. hatchery hen decided to consume a spoon this morning...gave a heck of a fight to boot...got her in and...

She only had half a tail. Seems she had a serious run-in with a seal, or otter. The lost part was still freshly torn...must have been in the last couple days.

Didn't seem to slow her down a bit! (Got 2 skeins of nice eggs too!)

Wow, that's a pretty serious chunk missing. Surprising she could fight like normal. I caught a hen last week that was missing about the last 3/4" of her lower jaw. My only guess is a net.

Would love to. Got any ideas on how to get it dry? Even with the sunshine lately, it is still wet come late afternoon.

Tried the wife's blow-dryer...didn't work and just got me in trouble..

I caught a silver in August that had a huge chunk bit out of its right side. it was big enough that I only kept the filet off the other side. The wound was just srarting to heal over. I probably wouldn't have kept the fish if it hadn't taken the herring so deep and had one of the hooks badly tearing the gills to the point of blood being pumped all during the fight. These fish are tough!!!

Hey Mike,

You need to stop fishing and get that boat done!!!!!!!!!! \:D

By the way nice fish I have been fishing the Snohomish and it has been a joke so far this year for me. about 20 hours on the river and no fish to show for it. I am going to exclusivly fish the skagit now until the chums show in the Sky. I have had decent luck on the skagit.

Fish On
