The Sockeye and Coho are running in North Creek again. This year, the creek has changed after a few high flows, and a pair have made a huge redd just 10 feet below the footbridge I am about to direct you to.

I cannot think of a better, safer place to bring your children to view salmon spawning and chasing each-other about!

Here are the directions.

From 405 take the Beardslee/195th st exit. Go east to North Creek Parkway (streetlight) and hang a left.
Proceed over the first bridge over the creek. Go about 1/3 of a mile down the road, you will cross the creek a second time. Take the first right into Technology Campus two. Take an immeadiate right into a small park.
Walk up on the dike, and hang a left on the path. You will see a small path head down towards the stream where you will find a nice footbridge. This is the viewing area.

After a good rain you can see Coho and the occasional Steelhead or Chinook cruising upstream. The sockeye will be there for the next two weeks or so.

Bring your little ones! enjoy!

BTW- this is not a fishing report. North Creek is closed to fishing year round!

I worked in that complex a few years ago about this time. They can be really thick in that little creek!

I took a peek a couple weekends ago and didn't see any. I'll check it out again, thanks for the update SG.

I also took a bike ride along the Sammamish River trail last weekend and saw about 50 nice red sockeyes doing their spawning dance around Woodinville. Also saw a coho and a cuttie trying to taking advantage of some drifting eggs. Again, there is currently no fishing allowed.

For South end viewing of Sockeye- there are plenty to see at the Renton Library (Cedar R).
