I have been on this board since last year when i moved here in October. I have enjoyed and tried a lot of techniques and advice I have gotten from this board. I had good success fishing in Washington to this point. THE FRIGIN COHO IN THE SKYKOMISH ARE KILLING ME. I have tried everything known to man. I have fished from sun up to sun down. I have fished low, I have fished the mouth of the wallace, I have fished high, NADA! I have thrown everything from flies to eggs. I haven't hooked one friggin fish, and have seen only one fish hooked. I don't think these fish bite, EVER! I did really well down south on Kings, and I know I will do fine when the chums come in with my flyrod but, I need to catch some silvers and would appreciate any advice, alternate locales, pointers, techniques, anyone of the seasoned vets on this board would like to share. I appreciate.

Ahhh..welcome to chasing Coho in the freshwater.. \:D

I'm sure you have read all the threads on here re: Coho in rivers, so, rather than bore you with more of the same, I can only tell you what I have had success (albeit limited) with this year.

2 fish - Copper colored #4 Vibrax spinner

1 fish - Pink and chrome spoon (about #4 sized)

1 fish - Blue Vibrax with 4" trailing pink worm.

When these fish get "lock-jaw", there is little you can do to get them to bite. Some suggest a small Dick Nite under a float (in froggy waters), or ?????

I do insure to use techniques that negate most any possibility of a flossed or snagged fish..if the thing isn't aggressive enough to BITE what is offered (even if it just pi$$es him/her off enough to strike) then I don't want to catch it. Hence, the use of larger spoons and spinners, or even eggs under a float (tonight's technique.)

Fished just this morning, had Coho rolling within 10 ft. of me, and they would not touch anything offered...and I offered them everything but my first child.

Patience + persistence + dumb luck = fishies in the freezer.

Mike

You pretty much nailed it with the method.

I took a nice one this morning using a wiggle wart style rattler, but it had a "blood trail" painted on. Uses red hooks too. ??????
