I'm picking up my new boat within a couple weeks and I have a choice between Sawyer MXG oars or Cataracts, I haven't used either but did have Sawyer lites on my old db which I liked. The boat I ordered comes with the Cataracts as an included upgrade over the MXG's, but a buddy of mine recommends I stick with the Sawyers.
Anybody here have experience with both and any thoughts or suggestions you'd like to share. Thanks.

Sawyer MXG.I've had two set's of them now,one from the old drifter fish-rite and now with the new willie. They are light and I like the blades, you won't need to dig as deep and the thin blades make for quiet strokes. My uncle has a set for his 2001 alumaweld and likes his also. They are great for feathering.Good luck,

When I picked up my new DB last year I planned on getting a spendy pair of Cataracts. At the last moment I was offered a great deal on a pair of old Sawyers and a spare breakdown oar that I could not refuse. I am very happy with the Sawyers and now plan on keeping them.

Sounds like it's a toss-up! Is there a difference in price between the two oars?

Sweet boat dude! \:\)

Sure are alot of awesome boat builders in southern Oregon. It seems like most of those guys worked for Willie at one time or another.

P.S. I've rowed many miles of river with both, and I like Sawyer. Personal preference I guess. That's what's great about life. You get to play the field and then make your own decision. Good luck.

Thanks for the input guys, I'll probably just go down there and pick up each pair see what feels best in my hands, I don't think I can really go wrong either way!

This 4 week wait has been tough, hope the sun keeps shining for about another week ;\)
