What is the difference between the 200 BSF and the 201 BSF. Is the 201 just left handed?

How many of you righties fish goofy?

201's are just left handed.

I'm a right hander who fishes 'goofie' by using a left handed baitcaster.

It makes alot more sense to me to fish that way because you cast with your right hand and it's the right hand that a natural right hander is going to have the most power and coordination to set the hook with (no changing the rod from one hand to the other).

IMHO the 'goofie' method is the way to go.

Thanks for the reply. I was looking for a new reel and I was thinking about fishing goofy.

After years of fly fishing, reeling with my left hand is easy and your post concurs with my thoughts regarding switching hands once I cast.

Thanks.

I cast right handed and reel left handed so I don't have to switch the rod from hand to hand

Yup only diff between 200 and 201 is left vs. right handed

By the regular Curado for drift fishing and use the BSF for your float rod. The smoother free spool lets the line flow off better and your float will maintain a straighter line.

Left handed here, cast left, reel right with ALL my reels. What I've never understood is the guys that switch back and forth between spinners and baitcasters with opposite retrieves.

Always goofy for me. To do otherwise feels awkward.

Exactly. I guess us "Lefties" are just a little on the goofy side to begin with! ;\)

To prove that, I only use right-hand retrieve baitcasting reels. I cast, and hold the rod with my dominant left hand and all is good.

But, I can't do that with a spinning rod. Put a 1141 in my hand, and it *HAS* to go in my right hand and I have to crank on the reel with my left hand.

If I switch, it just feels SOOO wrong. I just can't get over it.

Yeah, yeah, yeah, I'm a freak. But hey, you all knew that any ways.

Actually that is good if you ever develop fishing elbow from fishing to much, like 4-salt, it is good to be able to switch from arm to arm. ;\)

I have both a 200 and 201 types and switch back and forth. I get "tennis or fish" elbows when I do a lot of casting and or catching. Switching really helps. Of course I'm sitting here with compression straps on both forearms as I type this. Darn Vedder chums & kings are brutal!

Leadthrower, you use some words in your post I just don't understand, "fishing too much".

My wife said something like this the other day, I just don't know what it means.

I use Curado BSF 201 on my float road like lead thrower does.
It's a very smooth and tough little reel.
Played a bunch of Kings on my Curado BSF 201 yesterday north of the boarder and still maintained it's smoothness.
I love it!! \:D

No such thing as "too much fishing"!

You guys are correct instead of saying to much fishing I should have said for those with incompetent arms. \:D

Thanks to my 201's I can spend more time picking my nose and scratching myself with my left hand since I like to eat and write with my right. Don't know what I'm going do if I start catching fish.
