I was at White Bridge yesterday at 0900hrs saw two guy putting a driftboat in. They told me they were going to Black Crk. I told them they should get on it a little because it's a long way and they got a late start. At 1300hrs I saw them in their boat about 1/2 mile above the Cross Over bridge. Again I hinted around about the distance invloved in the trip. I heard today that two guys dumped their drift boat above the intake hole. They are Ok but had to be helped by the Swiftwater Rescue Team.
I believe this may have been the same people. Nice guys just out enjoying the trip. I watch them high center their boat earlier in the middle of the river above Cross over. The river was running hard yesterday so I was suspect of their skill level. Every year we lose boats or people down here. Be Careful

There are a few nasty spots on that river this year. A few trees across the river in some heavy water are gonna cause some people some problems. There is no excuse for dumping a boat at the Intake hole. It is well posted and you can walk your boat around it. If you do happen to go over the damn try to keep her straight and watch out for the rebar sticking up out of the concrete, don't roll over it either get on the sticks and get moving. But better off to walk it around if your not sure. Every year people seem to dump there boats there more often than not. Don't be stupid wear a life jacket when the flows are up. The Nooch right now looks like crap, it's brown and way up. Why would anyone want to float it yesterday? Well anyones hope everyones ok and remember to be safe when your out there. I like fishing, but not for people.

I ran into the guy who owns the boat at the south monte boat ramp on the halis friday after noon,he was looking for some one with a sled to take him down the river to find the drift boat.I wasn't willing to put my new sled that I spent $25,000.00 on in the high nooch for the first time since last march. However I helped him find a guy with a older sled to help out.We launched friday eve around 4:00 P.M. at the cross over bridge headed down stream to where it took place. No baot to be found and wasn't willing to run this sled down through the logs in the middle of the river just up stream from the EMU hole. The boat was obviously still down stream. The roll over happened just down stream of the car body hole below the bluff hole just down stream of the cross over bridge.Just below the carbody hole the river runs to the left and pick's up some speed,at the end of this run there are some trees down that run 85 to 90% of the way acroos the river.Stay right and run shallow if need be.These guy's learned a lesson. It was there first trip down rowing a boat.Rookies in high flows not a good match.I heard later on some guys' saw his boat down below the EMU hole full of water and in some shallows.Hope he get's it.He's a pretty nice guy.Good luck,

If they were ignorant enough to run to nooch without experience, they probably were stupid enough not to have life jackets on. Does anybody know if they were wearing pfd's? If I saw somebody who looked green, for instance not knowing how to back a boat down to the river, I'd ask them if they had pfd's. If they didn't I promptly give them mine. Glad everybody is o.k., but next time somebody won't be as lucky

One other thing: I don't know if there are warning signs at the boat launches down there, I know there aren't up here where I'm from. But don't ya'll think it'd be a good idea to place ink-boards or something at the put-ins that warn the greenies of hazards? Something at least where guys who knew of hazards could share them with the not so informed?

I talked with him on Sat. The boat was right in the tail of the car body and was just full of water sitting up right. Hopefully he was able to bail it out and go on down river. Heard that four boats were dumped in the Hump on Sat don't know how much fact that is but thats what I heard. Make sure that you watch out after these high waters things seem to change alot sometimes.

It all boils down to this - I'm right, everyone else is wrong, and anyone who disputes this is clearly a dumbfuck.
