Does anyone still fish these lures? I'm not sure they are still made, but I have a few left from my grandfathers tacklebox.

I've trolled them a couple times, but never stuck with them long enough to really know if they still attract fish in 2004 \:\)

Last weekend I cast one from the beach for about an hour trying to get the Chum to hit - no luck, but I've never had luck with Chum in the saltwater.

Just curious. Maybe I'll try them again for blackmouth. They sure look "fishy" spinning through the water, and they cast nicely too.

I'd love to land a fish on one!

Very interesting! I have one of those plugs. I've always wondered if they are worth dragging around.
A couple of years ago, a neighbor came to my door with a very old metal tackle box and asked if I wanted it or he was going to throw it away.
I was kind enough to save him the trip to the dump!
It had reels and all sorts of plugs and spoons and spinners.
there was even a buisness card for the C-Q Cafe in Sekiu. It's so old the phone number is 3 digits.

Fishon - Thanks for the blackmouth advice, I'll give it a try and make sure I tie a good knot so I get the cutplug when I'm done.

I suspected they were a bit collectable, but I don't see them at garage sales much on the island.

The other vintage lure that stands out to me is the Pearl Wobbler. (Abalone shell w/ red dot, correct?) Looks like it would be fun to troll too.
Any luck fishing these?

Thanks again guys - Charr, Let us know if you land a blackmouth on your cutplug this winter!

I just picked up a half dozen of the Pearl Wobblers on e-Bay. I'll have to try them one of these days when I'm not so desperate for a fish.

The LD Cut Plug has sparked some interest (recently) among collectors because of it's unique shape. However they do not command much in money department yet. If you currently own one in mint condition and original packging, it might be worth $8-$15.

The pearl wobblers were an excellent score off ebay! Hang on to those pearl wobblers. The prices are going higher and higher by the day!

Jeff, Can you bring both of these to the SnoKing November banquet? I would like to see these. I have heard of them but never seen either. Thanks

Here is a link to an e-Bay auction for what look like new production Pearl Wobblers. They look to be about 2 1/2 to 3" long.

I've still got a couple of the old style pearl wobblers in the original packaging.

Is that the rubber imitation of a cut-plug or a lead jig similar to a mooch-a-jig?

I know the lead jig is a fish killer...

Slab-- the Les Davis lure was hard plastic or wood-- I'm not sure which, and I'm not going to cut into mine to find out.

The soft plastic cut plug lure is still made by Worden's Lures. The lead jig is the Metzler Mooch-A-Jig. While Metzler is still in business, I don't think the Mooch-A-Jig is still made. It caught fish, but it was a bear to jig as it had a lot of resistance. I think it got overshadowed by the darts and stingers because it wasn't easy to fish, and when the salmon seasons dumped, I believe they sucked the MAJ along with them.

Ron,
Thank you for the invitation to the SnoKing meeting. Unfortunately, I won't make it.

I have a hard time making my own PSA meetings here on Whidbey. Seems my wife PTA obligations take priority on that night of the month. ;\)

I don't want to say I'll post a picture and then not do it, but I did find a few LD CutPlugs on ebay recently. There are models on ebay that look newer than the ones I use. I suspect mine are from the early 60's. They look just like a herring you would cutplug yourself, and they even have the cutplug end painted red with the little Les Davis sticker on it.

I'll be on the lookout for more now - have to check Dad's garage next
