Drove down and tried the Satsop today for the first time. I launched the boat @ the highway launch and fished up river. There is a sweeper 100% across the river 100 yards downstream from the launch (not sure if this is new).

River was running a bit high when I arrived at 0700 and the visibility was about 18 inches. As the day went on it was dropping fast and by 3:00 PM there was almost 3' of vis.

I landed and released 6 Chum 3 Coho and 3 Kings. The Chum were a bit dark, but the Coho and Chinook were nice and bright. All 12 fish came on wrapped K15 kwikfish in various colors and there are two chums and one King with my K15's still attached \:\(

It was an awesome day, considering it was my first trip to the Satsop, and I fished alone all day.

Cheers,
SA

PS. The launch REALLY sucks, especially at the higher flows.

There is also the bank just upriver from the hwy ramp. The river has dropped over four feet since the other day. Sometimes fish will hold up there before they continue upriver. I believe the nets come out of the Chehalis at two o'clock wednesday afternoon. Fishing should pick back up on thursday. ;\)

The following schedule is right off the the home page of WDFW:

Tribal Netting
2:30PM, Sun, Nov 7 through 2:30PM Wed, Nov. 9, 2004

Anyone see what I see..........Wednesday is the 10th????

Netting schedule sure affects the sports fishing "up river".

At some time, WDFW -- will realize the value of sport caught fish in this state. Then maybe WDFW and will take a more "active role" in working netting schedules to see that more fish are available for sport fisherpersons.

Suggest---No nets in the river, any more than 3 days a week........Sun----Tues......

gillnetting is a modern day travesty, there is plenty of clean water & habitat upstream to allow for hoards of salmon, but no mommy or daddy salmons = no baby salmons, is that too complex?
