Started this morning at 7:00 off the rip-rap at the penitentiary. Watched two fellows across the river on the gravel bar hook up at least 3 doubles. After an hour with no fish on our side, drove around to the Tulaco loop and walked up to the bar. The two guys from earlier left shortly thereafter and offered up the spot they were in. Figured out shortly that we were throwing over the fish, and after an adjustment took a nice hen, released a buck, and took another nice hen. The hens were both pretty bright, and until I get a digital camera, you'll have to take my word for it. My partner for the day broke a knot on one and landed another shortly there after. The best part was getting to throw his new rod and taking the second hen on the second cast. Needless to say he took the rod back in short order. It was a beautiful day to be on the river, and all the better getting to take something home. We threw jigs and floats with shrimp tails and prawns. Hope everyone gets a chance to go get a few dogs, I know I'll be back out ASAP.

Has anyone had any luck playing any winter-run hatchery brats this month on the Sky?

Thanks for the great report. My Dad and I went out on Saturday to the two spots you mentioned but mostly just watched. They weren't doing much by the prision but they were hammering them on the far side of the river at Tualco Rd.

Fished the Wallace today a bunch of Really Really Really dark spawned out silvers, saw 1 chum caught on it. Went down to the wallace flats to do soem chumming hooked 4 and landed 3 in 1 hour. Fishing is not as hot as it has been river is a little lower than I like it but
the fish are in and if you do your time you should be able to catch a dog or two. Starting to look forward to the winter runs.
