Is the heart of the Hoodsport Chum run still to come or is it merely a light run this year?
Any thoughts?

It's still early for the "peak" at Hoodsport. Neither of my elbows are hurting too bad yet. After Thanksgiving weekend my "chum" elbows hurt so bad that I probably couldn't comb my hair if I had any left.

Bob:
I envy you that you don't have them. Years ago I use to like fighting em, now their just a pain in the as$. Hard on equipment and takes time away from catching the "good" fish.

Soon and very soon. Now, if I can just get past this nagging case of tennis elbow before things really heat up.

Fished up in Canada at the Chehalis weekend before last. For every bright Coho you had to catch ten Chums. Both the Vedder and Chehalis were thick with them. If your still waiting for the main run here, head up there.
Me, I am not going near a river with a Chum in it until next year.

alot of salmon labels were recoverd from my great grandpas ship wreck up in prince rupert that went down in the 20's. all of the labels were for canned pink or chum. I think they had it right back then. the rest of the country ate pink or chum and thought that it was just normal, while the salmon producing communities dined on the chinook, sokeye and coho
