Mike, you might also try a Silver Horde or Tomic plug in the 5" model. Best colors are white and white/red combinations. I have also been doing well on a black with glow belly plug. I use the plugs when the shakers get too heavy. We were getting shakers but not that bad. I had to take the Coyote off the other day as the shakers were on everytime I went down.

Some of the old charters that are long gone in Edmonds used to fish Tomic 5" plugs almost exclusively out on the bar. I use the Tomic #603 in a 5" but the 84 in glow is a good one too. You won't have nonstop action on shakers but if you fish the bottom 10' of the water column you will eventually get nice fish.

Grandpa, a few (Morning Star etc) still fish them alot. I still fish plugs more than anything else but won't hesitate to change out if needed. I was remembering the other day when you could go to Possession and see 6 to 8 small charters trolling for Kings in the summer and blackmouth in the winter. Gary is about the only one left from that bunch.

Boy I remember those days as I was usually out there right beside them. Then it was always when you felt like fishing you would go...not when it is open or not.

Nice weather and a great boat ride on Saturday but no keepers for me from the Racetrack or up in 8-1 at Elger Bay.

We hit two on Friday with 602 & 603 plugs. Once we pulled the spoons and put the plugs on the shakers disappeared and we were able to actually fish.

Love those big plugs anytime of year. Pounded fish all summer at Neah Bay on them, only problem was getting past the silvers to the kings....
