Had an interesting diversion from blackmouth fishing yesterday. Found a reef that must not have been fished for bottomfish very hard for years. 3 drifts accross it produced a 12# lingcod (releaased) a couple 3-4# quillback rockfish, and two monster cabezon at 12# and 14# each. These cabezon, caught on steelhead gear hit like a freight train and fought hard clear to the top from 120 feet where both of them took a good dive of about 50 feet back down where I had to work them back up. Lotsa fun! I also discovered that super-fresh cabezon, prepared properly, tastes an awefull lot like crab. Yummy!

Sun setting into the fog produces some very cool colors as well. Sure was calm out there!

Nothin finer than fresh cabazon.
