Went down to the sol duc on Saturday and got on the river by 8:30. We fished the first hole by the hatchery. There were lots of fish here. On my friends second cast he hooks a 5lb jack king on a #3 blue vibrax spinner. It was released and we kept fishing. After a while, we headed to another hole by the hatchery. This hole had many fish over 20lbs. And on my friends 3rd or 4th cast he hooks a monster. He fought this fish for over an hour, and then finally it was netted. This was about a 20lb silver. A beast!! We kept this one, and it had a little color but not much. Then a little bit later my friend’s dad hooks a 15lb coho and we released it because it was pretty dark. Both of those fish were caught on a #4 and #5 chartreuse vibrax. The fish in the hole were going ballistic, jumping, splashing, and getting some air. Then my friend hooks up with an even bigger fish than before, and it runs for about 50 yards then snaps his line. Probably because the line was weekend from his last fish. I then finally get a fish but it was snagged and was released. The cool thing was that all the fish except for mine were hooked in the mouth. We fished for the rest of the day till dark and had a few hit but no more fish. All in all it was awesome!!! I have pics to but I don't no how to post them. Could any one help?

Yeah, we believe you. If you're going to go to the trouble of snagging and/or flossing a fish, a spinner wouldn't be your best tool to get the job done.

I have yet to snag a coho with a hootchie spinner, but I'm sure it does happen.

Glad to hear you had a fun day on the river. One of my most favorite ways to catch coho is with a spinner. Talk about a blast!

Parker, I was using drift gear when I snagged my fish, and I totaly agree with you that it is very hard to snag a fish with a spinner.
