I read an article in the latest F&H news about smolt counts. For the Skagit river they listed 225,000 for the "Mainstem", and 200,300 for the cascade hatchery. They also had a small article abot fishing the Skagit. It mentioned fishing near both the Cascade river hatchery and the "Hatchery outlet". I know where the cascade hatchery is but where is this "Mainstem" or "Hatchery outlet"? I have fished this river numerous times and have not seen or heard of this location. I can not locate it on a map either.

“Mainsteam” is the Skagit
“Hatchery Outlet” I believe its where Clark Creek (don’t shoot me if I’m wrong) hits the Cascade River

Cascade dumps in at Marblemount, I just about lost a lung on your last post.

I just spent some time hunting around the WDFW website. They list a hatchery called Barnaby Slough Pond in Rockport as well as the Cascade hatchery. A rough map I saw also lacates a hatchery upstream of the Sauk.

Barnaby traps the fish and sends them to the Cascade Hatchery. The creek that dumos into the Cascade is Jordan Creek.

Barnaby Slough is a rearing pound, a release spot. That is up stream of Rockport.

I don’t know of any Hatchery on the Sauk.

Here is where you can find Hatchery Complexes

If you park in the big lot at the hatchery and walk along the fence in front of the house, the trail along the hatchery outlet, you come to where the outlet, and the split cascade come together. Immediately below is Jordan Creek. You have to wade it to get further downstream on the Cascade. There is a trap on Jordan to keep fish from going up it rather than into the hatchery.

The creek that goes through the Marblemount Hatchery is Clark Creek, and dumps into the Cascade River.

I think the creek that goes "through" the hatchery is Clark. The creek just below the hatchery is Jordon. Marblemount hatchery is the only one I know of on the Skagit. There are sereval smolt release spots however. BTW Barnaby Slough is closed to fishing I'm pretty sure.

Barnaby Slough is where some idiots help themselves to the hatchery brood stock almost every year.
