As the Cabezon season ends on Tuesday I thought I might go out tomorrow in Area 10 and have a shot at them. I have some jigs that will probably work but any suggestions for other techniques, baits and places to try?

You can try the jetty along the Elliot Bay Marina and the Grain Terminal. Although there are some good numbers along the Grain terminal I am not sure you want to eat those, a lot of pollution.

I'd fish a 1/2 oz to 1 oz lead headed jigs with a curly tail plastic worm in motor oil, green or yellow in 25 to 60 feet of water around some kind of structure like rock, pilings or artifical reefs. Cabezons love to eat blennies, so match the hatch! They also love to eat small to medium size crab.

I've caught 7 10-14 lb cabezon in the last couple weeks. I was using a 5" chrome buzz bomb with 80 lb spiderwire drifting water 85 to 125 feet deep. I'm done for the year out there so go get em at foulweather bluff a couple hundred yards north and west of the red buoy. They were full of crab and shrimp and tasted awesome! Just an extra 10 minute run past point-no-point when blackmouth fishing.
