I'm in the market for smooth left-handed casting reel and I'm looking for some feedback. I know all about the Shimano Curado and a few things about the Pfluger Trion. However, Cabelas has a reel that is in the same price range as the Pfluger ($100) and it seems like it's worth considering.

Does anyone have any experience with this reel? If so, what do you think?

I've done a search on this BB but didn't come up with anything.

The website for this reel is:

http://www.cabelas.com/cabelas/en/templa...arentId=cat2033 1&parentType=index&rid=&_DARGS=%2Fcabelas%2Fen%2Fcommon%2Fcatalog%2Fitem-link.jhtml_A&_DAV=MainCatcat20166&hasJS=true

The Curado BSF is certainly the most recommended casting reel on this BB. But it's just a bit out of my price range.

I don't have any experience with the Prodigy, but the hearsay testimonials that I have read in the past are all positive.

If your budget is an issue, why don't you check E-Bay? You can pick up brand spanking new or excellent used reels for much less than paying retail.

Just make sure you buy from reliable sellers, and that shipping charges don't raise the price over what you would pay retail.

Oh yeah, it may be better to wait until after Xmas on Ebay--too many folks are bidding right now for Xmas gifts.

I don't know how important it is to you but a feature I use all the time on my old Diawa Autocast is the ability to flip the drag back on with the thumb bar. For this reason and this reason alone I decided not to get the Curado, or Trion when I was looking at reels a while ago. I ended up not buying anything at all yet. But when I do I will be seriously looking at the Shimano Castaic. One of the things I plan to do at the upcoming Sportsmans show is to look at reels to see what models have this ability. I use this when drifting gear to control the line going out.
