Dumbya:

“Our enemies are innovative and resourceful, and so are we, They never stop thinking about new ways to harm our country and our people, and neither do we.”

This guy makes Dan Quayle look like a spelling bee superstar.

What an idiot.

I'm not exactly sure which concerts you are referring to Aunty cuz I've kinda quit paying attention to 'the record industry', quit listening to the radio and started exploring new musical avenues via the internet.

If it came on the news I might have flipped the channel...got a link?

Ok, now I remember the story I saw on CNN.

First of all only the heaviest hitters in terms of units moved are able to get away with such political expressions. The labels exert heavy pressure on lesser artists (purely in terms of sales) to keep their political traps shut...

So the extent to which the artistic community reviles the Bush administration is severely dampened by internal censorship. We're only seeing the half of it.

Springsteen tends to appeal to fans across political lines, especially the middle class. Allentown anyone? so in spite of righty's efforts to discredit him as just another musician with political thoughts, it's a big win for Kerry having his endorsement.

I am strongly in favor of using whatever opportuinity you are given to send a political message. Its the only way for the little guy, the MM's and the Dickme Chicks of the world, to shout as loudly as the political neophytes from the other side of the aisle. The ones with all the money.

So more power to them.

If Ahnuld can have a voice in politics why not Serg Tankinian?

(Elvis, that reference is for you.)

Amongst many loud, bloody, sweaty others...

I have two cd cases, one with basically the history of rock and metal in it....all the good shi* by the good bands most of which you'd recognize, some of which you might like. AC/DC - ZZTop

The other one is all a bunch of bands no ones ever heard of.... friends bands, internet friends bands, obscure swedes that don't speak english, guys that used to be in other bands, singers that sound like cookie monster, singers that sound like operatic divas, etcetera.

Sounds eclectic...but its really all just loud and sweaty heavy metal.

I have certain hard, fast, Elvis-like rules when choosing what new bands I'll try listening to:

1) Make-up is *ghey.

2) Posed photos are ghey.

3) Swords are ghey

Pretty much everything after that I'll try once.

There is an exception to the 'is ghey' rule....The Darkness.

They remind me so much of Thin Lizzy I'm willing to bend.

With your vast musical library you must have some of The Accused. Hook me up.

Most of my music got jacked a couple years ago and some of it is hard to replace. I just scored an album yesterday that I thought I would never find again.

And yes....posed photos are ghey.

I love a lot of Springsteens stuff.

But lets examine his comment in the NYT article. He calims not to get involved in partisan politics. A blatant lie. He oppses almost everything right is as a bout as left wing as you can get. He also complains like most stars about the "division of wealth" in the US while social services get cut. Not true again. GW has spent more on education than clinton and with mandatory increases in SSN, Medicare madicaid humanservices etc. Spensing on those issues are at an all time high. Stem cell reaserch $$ has doubled under Bush. . Last time I checked Bruce was worth many many millions. How come he does not just write a check back to the feds and help? If he does not like the dispartiy of the rich to poor? Naw it's easier to be an ill informed fool that falls for anything he reads or heras rather than check it out. it's easier to be a pseudo intellectual than a real one specicially when your audince is guilty of the same. Shut up and play for pay Brucie or walk your talk.

No one said he was not generous. Bruce points specifically at the divide between the wealthy and the poor in his comments. And complains the the Bush admin is doing nothing about it. I do not see his Cd's any cheaper than anyone elses so the poor can buy them or concert tickets or movies etc. or the rest of these enertainment socialists doing exactly what they call on the govt. to do.

Not even close.

He objects to the division betweeen the wealthy and the poor. Until he writes checks that bring his net worth to the poverty line he is guilty of his own charges.

Only if you're the judge. :p

I suppose when a guy like Bill Gates, who donates a boatload of money to fight diseases in Africa, says that we (the people and government of the U.S. ) should do more to help stop disease in Africa........he would be a hypocrite if his kids had a full round of immunizations?

I see..................

So Bruce Springsteen should donate his entire fortune to the poor before he should be able to tell the government to try to improve the lives of the poor, instead of coddling the Ken Lay's and Neil Bush's of the world?

Yeah, and I'm having delusions. \:D

You should read the article. You have to log into the NYT to get it.

No the point is would you listen to a man living ina $40 million home about how the system is not fair and the government should redistribute wealth from the wealthy to the poor? Springsteens words where" the division of wealth" . We do not divide wealth in this country you earn it.

Then again maybe you go down to tent city and get financial advice from the homeless?

I know the irony and hypocrisy is hard to spot when it samcks you full on in the head :p

Why not? If Bruce encourages the gov't to redistribute wealth, then wouldn't he be volunteering his own wealth to be redistributed?

Sure we redistribute wealth. I think the US has always been about those of us who are better off propping up those who are worse off. Would it be better if people just did it, without any need for the government to get involved? Sure.

But not everyone is as generous as Bruce Springsteen. ;\)
