This came up over here from an article in the local paper. Seems they are selling the things for 14 bucks apiece and keeping the money. Its not the first time and its not just albertsons. Lots of people out there figuring out ways to cash in on 9/11 - Just about anything you see that involves " for our troops" is making someone big money.
Take the tackel for troops thread... in no place is it stated that this is a profit free venture. So a 1000 people send money... the place will send the stuff allright but at what cost ??? Willing to bet its at full retail plus some. Its also a misconception, that our troops can't get things. They can get anything they want. They have no problems getting mail or anything like that. I got mail in some remote places when I was in the service and that was a long time ago.
I am all for helping these guys out. I am as patriotic as the next guy.. I just really hate all the scams out there right now. If you say its non-profit, that means nothing. If you write a disclaimer to that affect, then thats valid.
Take those ribbons for example. They say nothing on them as to where the money goes so its a gimmi that the person selling them keeps the money ( because they can).. its legal..
Same thing with all the people who ran out and bought American flag stickers right after 9/11- that money went right into the pockets of the people selling them. They never even implied otherwise...
How about that dumb ass deal.... .999 pure silver coins minted from silver found at ground zero... what a crock.. it got yanked off the market.
My next rant will cover "girl scout cookies".. You just think your helping someone out when you buy them.. In fact, you are... the people who make them.
