You never know. I remember this game like it was yesterday. The Cougs came out in all crimson for the first time in 40 years. When we saw that the place went nuts . The hair stood up on the back of your neck and you just felt something was going to happen. The only time I saw the goal posts come down in Martin Stadium. The party that followed was legendary even by Cougar standards.
1982 Cougars 24, Huskies 20
This was another one for the upset category. The Huskies were 9-1, had won eight straight Apple Cup games and were ranked No. 5 in the country. They had held the No. 1 ranking for seven weeks earlier in the season and had knocked off two top-10 teams in the previous two weeks. The Cougars were 2-7-1.
Trailing 21-20 in the fourth quarter, All-American kicker Chuck Nelson could have given the Huskies the lead but missed, ending his NCAA record of 30 consecutive field goals and stunning his teammates.
The loss robbed the Huskies of their third consecutive Rose Bowl berth and sent them instead to the Aloha Bowl on Christmas day.

Just got back from Puerto Vallarta, great time of the year to visit Mexico. Have fun Bob! I will be at the Apple cup, watching the end of the "Husky Curse ". Dan, good to see there is one Dawg fan remaining. Go Cougs!

I don't like either team. The best college football team in the state is CWU. Go Wildcats!

Biff and Buffy have had another tough year. The "I'm Two Good 4 U" has been tied up to the dock most of the season. Buffy was overheard the other day talking football, "Pullman, the Apple cup! You have got to be kidding. I understand they sell cheese in a can and Yakima wine. I am sure glad the Tyee boys are getting rid of that coach. He alway reminded me of the hired help, a little too blue collar if you ask me." Go Cougs!

I used to have a sales rep that was a snob Husky. She was at the 82 game . She sat below the student section . Students would barf in "bookie bags" and hurl the contents like a water balloon down on the Husky fans.
The next year in Seattle 83 there where fights in the stands . I had 20 season tickets for the company and filled them all with cougs. We where one row up from the student section and baited the young pups into some scraps. It had snowed 8 to 10 inches before the game and the puppies where cold. Don James declared the Cougs the best team in the conf. after the RPM offense Rypien , Porter and Mayes whacked the 15 ranked dogs 17 to 3.

Well, both my Dad and I are UW grads and I am a life long Husky fan... with a Mom and a sister who graduated Moo U... and I would dearly LOVE to rub yet ANOTHER cup victory in thier faces this year....
... but I don't think the chances are that great. I will still be wearing the colors and shouting as loud as ever. A Husky win would be a big upset and it has happened before, so hang in there Husky fans.

I predict massive keg stands and blackouts, and a bunch of frati fro's bro'ing down and beating their girl friends and the chicks liking it and going back for more because they are in it for the money any way. A very negative way of looking at it but I have seen it first hand. Don't be fooled by the collegiate glam, oh yeah my last prediction is that it will clear out the streams of doosh bags from Bellevue.

It all boils down to this - I'm right, everyone else is wrong, and anyone who disputes this is clearly a dumbfuck.

Dan........it's all gone , isn't it? I gotta be honest..............it was gone weeks ago. And now, not only do I have a depleted liquor supply, I have a couple bets to pay off too. Only good thing is the Cougs weren't very confident this year..........last year I collected 100 bones, this year I have to pay out 30. I suppose if you don't let the hayseeds win a bet once in a decade or so, they'll stop betting you. :p It was another exciting game..........although it probably shouldn't have been. The Cougs hung in there this time, and Brink was pretty poised for a young guy. Congrats Cougs. I know you've been waiting a long time for this one.

A win, is a win 3 points or 1 point. Just think next years Apple Cup, Cougs beat the worst Husky team in 151 years. Go Cougs!
