this is the second hunting related story i have heard on the news in the past few weeks. what would cause someone to shoot another person over the use of a treestand? the other story i heard happened here in western washington. a guy was shot while pheasant hunting. the shot didn't penetrate the skin, but it left some marks on the back of his neck. the hunter who shot him didn't accept responsibility for it. the funny things is that he had the guts to show up the next day after he had shot someone. this is why hunters get a bad reputation. i enjoy hunting, but the people in my neigborhood don't. for some reason they don't like it when i walk around the easement road with my shotgun. these days when i hear a car coming i hurry into the bushes out of sight.

Let me check something here ... yep, Wisconsin's a red state. That must be an example of those morals, ethics, and values they all voted for.

Pretty stupid to let something like a treestand get ya killed. Especially after the first guy was hit, why did the others stick around? Could you imagine getting shot on the Cowlitz because you were standing on "someone else's" rock?

When I read that and saw the guys name who did all the shooting, added to the fact he used an SKS... Made me wonder if he was a misplaced Viet Cong or something.

GH, all the hunters were from a blue state, the shooter from a red. The reason they kept walking into fire and didn't take cover was they thought that maybe the guy needed a hug and someone to talk too.

Hmmm, news report said he chased them down and shot them. A young teenager, a woman, and a father/son team. Thanks for verifying the guy's a red-stater so we know what kind of people they really are. ;\)

Geez, I guess we need a sarcasm icon here.

And btw, I'm not complaining about the election anymore. I'm complaining about the psuedo-morals the crusaders are trying to stuff down my throat. I will continue to regurgitate that rhetoric right back at them whenever they're caught with their pants down.

So there. :p

Hey guys if I over reacted then sorry.

It just seems that Harley has been finding ways to turn non-political topics in to political whine sessions.

Then again maybe he is baiting some of us... If so, I guess I fell for it.

First off he had no right Treaspassing on private property and second we don't know what transpired before the shootings took place between the two factions. Therefore rather than rushing to judgement lets let the local authorities sort the thing out although in my opinion the shooter is totally in the wrong and should be dealt with accordingly in accordance with the law. It has nothing to do with whether it happened in a "RED" or "BLUE" state.

Although even though he was in the wrong and seeing as how is an immigrant to this country I can see were he may be scared "Sh__less" especially after facing several armed men and shooting them and with the prospect of facing their buddies after committing the first act.

the media is already having a frenzy with this story. i believe it is NBC that is having a dateline report on hunting, but i don't know if it is on tonight or tomorrow and i don't know if it is just a coincidence that it came during the murders. this ordeal will be the fuel that increases ant-hunting groups lobbying against our rights. how many people use an sks for deer hunting. he may have been having some flashbacks from the jungle.

I hunted with an SKS once. Why not? It's legal and the only gun I happened to have at the time. Was it what I wanted to be shooting? Probably not, but I wasn't going to let it stop me from doing what I love to do. Never read anywhere that we all had to use an '06 or 7mm.

And why all the refugee/flash back comments? C'mon ppl. We all have to be from somewhere. I agree he was wrong but we will never know what brought him to it. My thoughts are with the families and victims.

Here are two links relating to the Hunter Shooting in Wisconsin. The first one is the police report filed on the incident.

Police Report in PDF Format

The Second is a newspaper report on a second unsolved shooting that occured in 2001 in which the shooter Vang may be involved in as the MO is very similiar.

Star Tribune Story

Makes for some interesting reading doesn't it!

camofish you are right about how we will never know why he shot them and what really happened out there. he may have been lost and was defending himself from some redneck property owner who believed in shooting anyone who goes on his land or he may have been provoked to the point where he couldn't handle his emotions and decided to open fire. the other story linked to him doesn't provide much evidence accept that he hunted in the same area where the murder occurred.
