If you search the archives there have been a few threads on these reels in the past.
Mixed reviews mostly..some loved 'em, some hated 'em. I went through 2 of them in 3 years, finally went to a Curado and now all Shimano reels.

I have a new (20-30 hrs) broken one in my garage, I would give it to you but it can't be repaired. Shimano is the replacement.

I have two of them, have had them for three years not a single problem, used a curado before my opinion is that they are over priced and no better. The pflueger casts better but just my opinion.

The model just below the curado is the citica, which is a great reel for $120. Its performs about like the older model curado (dark green).

if you want a really good reel, get on ebay and find yourself a bantam 200. you can get one in fishable shape for under $100, worth it a lot more than any curado...

i've played with them and they seem nice, but i'm not much of a low profile guy. only thing i didn't like was that they're made in korea instead of sweden.

Went through 2 Trion baitcasters and WILL NOT GO BACK! They are the best "out of the box" , but thats it. The internal parts are CHEAP and prematurely wear-out and jam(locked thumb release) around 2 trips out with only 2 kings and 1 steelhead to hand.
Spend the extra 20.00 and get the CITICA, you won't go back!
Good luck.

3rd 4th 5thor what ever were up to. I got a trion because I could not believe how smooth they were but it really dosen't compare to the Currado. I am a novice caster at best but can cast at least twice as far and accurate with the currado than I can with my trion. Save up or do the Ebay thing. Has anyone fished a Daiwa Zillion yet? I read a review that said They were going to be the next hot reel. I have one I haven't spooled up yet and was wondering if I should just stick with shimano.

Its kind of like compairing and apple to a potato. The Trion is their cheapest reel so compairing it to a Curado is kind of off base. I have a Pfluger Supreme and its every bit as smooth as a new Curado. I have only used it for bass fishing, but seems very well made and casts light baits pretty damn well.

Well said B-Run, I have a supreme also and so far it's been every bit as good as the curado. I do think I would opt for the citica over the trion in the lower end models though.
