I think it does. We couldn't buy any alchohol between 12:00 Sunday until 6:00 am Monday either in bars or stores in Washington years ago. We always had to hide our "Sunday case" in our car trunk from our buddies so it wouldn't get drank after the taverns closed Saturday night.
Going to a friend's home for a Sunday bbq or to watch a football game without beer was considered tasteless. We had it tough in those days.

Dave D,

Yep, legacy of the Blue Laws. Why were they called the Blue Laws? Not sure I ever heard the reason.

So what is a blue law?.... same alcohol laws occur elsewhere California for example. I think in Colorado the same laws apply with the addition of no hard stuff and 3.2 beer only on Sundays. Hve you ever had 3.2 beer?

in the past all stores were closed on sunday. they stared staying open and finely bars and taverns were allowed to open from 2pm to 10 pm this changed to 12 to 12 and then to the same as all days. under the old blue laws women could noe set at the bar and you could not carry your drink from table to table only the waitress could carry a drink.

Here's what I could find

It's like blue balls your either sad you ain't getting any or your blue from pain. \:\)

The term blue law may have been first used by the Reverend Samuel Peters (1735–1826) in his book General History of Connecticut, which was first published in 1781, to refer to various laws first enacted by Puritan colonies in the 17th century which prohibited the selling of certain types of merchandise and retail or business activity of any kind on certain days of the week, usually Sunday.

Contrary to popular belief, there is no evidence to support the assertion that the blue laws were originally printed on blue paper. Rather, the word blue was commonly used in the 18th century as a disparaging reference to rigid moral codes and those who observed them (e.g., "bluenoses", blue movies). Moreover, although Reverend Peters claimed that the term blue law was originally used by Puritan colonists, his work has since been found to be unreliable, and it is more likely that he simply invented the term himself.[5] In any event, Peters never asserted that the blue laws were originally printed on blue paper, and this has come to be regarded as an example of fake etymology. Another version is that the laws were first bound in books with blue covers. (See related article: Blue laws)

What's with the Bible belt being anti alcohol? Jesus is said to have made wine, and it allegedly was very good. If it was good enough for Jesus, it's good enough for me. That reminds me, it's about time to pop a cork off one for dinner.

Let's discuss this topic on the river LT aka Dave D ;\)

If you want to learn the Sauk, then you know what to do. I float the upper Sky frequently and know it well. We could put our heads together and do some damage up there.
