i shot my first pintail today, as i was looking in the regs it says 1 a day so that must mean they are hard to come by right? trying to decide if i want to have it mounted or not.

No they are not hard to come by. I have sat many a day with my one pintail in the bag and that is all thats flying. If it is a big bull sprig then I may get it mounted, but I certainly don't think it's gonna be your last one.

I think that it totally depends are where you are located at. For example I hunt mostly in the Tri-Cities and Columbia basin area. We have Tons of pennies there. On the other hand I have a some friends that live up in the Wenatche area, and they never get them. So, hard to come by; well Maybe.

As far as mounting it, I have to agree with Steeley. If it is a big bull sprig, adn you got the cash, go for it. I have one mounted and love it.

Grays Harbor has quite a few pintails. Early in the year, we get lots of them (well 1 per day each) and that is generally watching the bigger flocks come and go so that we can shoot at singles to make sure we don't take an extra.

Yup it's one a day because they are on the decline nationally. Up at Padilla Bay the usual game is shoot a sprig at first light and then they land in your dekes all day long.
