Can a treaty be created by Bush with Afghanistan making it impossible if not very difficult for the next President to get us out of the war?

I think treaties are ratified by Congress. And they can be changed, unilaterally, by Congress. Bush could execute a treaty with anyone he wishes, and the next prez or Congress may honor it or ignore it. It all depends. I think it relates to the concept that nations don't have friends; nations have interests. And more than ever in American history it seems, politicians serve their interests first and screw the nation if need be.

It appears all the checks and balances to prevent one man from going off the deep end and making bad decisions have been lost.

I concur Dave.

Refer the NAU thread, and click on the movie for plausible explanations.

Why does Afghanistan and Pakistan end in the same 5 letters? I am not a muslim nor a geo sci guy. However, this place is nothing but a hot bed of fanatical zealotry. Poor fucks that just want to be and get by on their goat and donkey milk and droppings for a fire at night. No government has a right to make any deals on any of their behalfs. Oh wait, we could just spread more democracy and good will with assasinations and AC-130s.
Damn man, I really want to see Afghanistan and the markets of Pakistan before I die.

All of Bush's cronies stand to make untold Billions the longer we have active military operations in Afghanistan, Pakistan, and Iraq. Hopefully Iran or Syria isn't next. War is the biggest business there is..

I first read it as a kid in Gone With the Wind. Rhett Butler stated that the most money is made either by destroying a country or by building it back up. Still timely.
