Yeah, I know the market had this bump the last time we did it. I'm just worried that all we are really doing is extending our credit limit, with the promise to pay it back with interest. Too bad I wasn't liquid 6 mos ago, I'd be feeling alot better about it all.

The rebate is nothing more printing money and causing even further inflation and devaluing of the dollar. A low dollar is good for many businesses.

I still have my bottle of Champagne I've been saving since Bush was first elected. It should be real fine tasting when he and his chronies ride off into the sunset.

Nah, only Gloria Ferrer Brut which is what my wife likes. But 8 years older than when purchased. I am not a big champagne drinker. Too sweet and bubbly which disagrees with my disposition.

i'm a big fan of vintage champagne. the '96's are killer, but starting to lose some vibrance. They'll still drink well for years, but I tend to prefer my older bubbles to be younger. That doesn't really make sense does it? 6-10 years old is a good window.

'98 was ok, but seems to be characterized by higher acidity, which is less pleasing to me than the biscuit-type flavors and mineral notes. Perhaps a '00 is in order, since that's when the madness began.

The event might call for a good single malt as well. In any case I can definately see splurging a bit, this is as good a cause for celebration as any, and better than most.

It all boils down to this - I'm right, everyone else is wrong, and anyone who disputes this is clearly a dumbfuck.

What
In
THE
Fark?

Did I just read 'vibrance', 'acidity', and 'mineral notes' ?

The only thing I see missing is 'bouquet'.

My dad is a wine expert as a hobby and I spent my youth helping him make wines. We had deals with vinyards in eastern Washington and would pick what the pickers missed bringing back a one ton pickup load at a time. He even made quite a few cases of champagne around 1970. When it was new it was crap and 90% would end up on the ceiling. But 20+ years later he opened up a case and it was some of the best champagne Ive ever had. Myself I am partial to Bordeaux's but mostly drink good bourbon or scotch.
Even a bottle of T-bird will taste pretty sweet on that day.

Montelcino is an amazing town too. Did you check out La Fortezza? They were pouring Sassicaia and Ornellaia by the glass, as well as Antinori's Pian delle Vigne BdM. Pretty amazing. The 97's have entered their prime, and the 99's are pretty much there too.

For Italian wine it's hard to beat the Super's, and I'm a big Amarone fan as well.

I'll drink to that, dang, you guys are making me thirsty. I'm still stuck on reds, favor Caymus and drown in Opus if I can afford it. Whites, I generally stick to Grgich, the drier the better. Pretty easy to please, but the champagne was never friendly to me, I don't care if it was made by nuns in hills of france, I'll wake up with a headache that Satan himself wished he could have afflicted me with. But, if you guys do round up a going away party, I'll chip in some vino and promise to stop making an ass out of myself by 10:00 sharp. When I get home tonight I may have to bust open a bottle and wake up a little late, it's Friday anyways, nothing gets done on Fridays. Should we really wait another year for this party though??

I've had the Vignamaggio Mona Lisa. Not too shabby ;\) Sounds like you did it up right. Life's short, suck some marrow! Let me know next time you're in Forks KK, I'll raid the cellar.

Travis, did the Tetrick contingent catch any fish last week or what? I gave them some good beta, but Dan's cell service didn't allow for a proper report...

He went to the bogie, didn't get anything. Sounds like he and the kid had a real nice day out though. He's threatening to head out on Sunday, asked if I wanted to go. I have to pass, doing tacos and beer at my place with a bunch friends. Maybe next week if the weather plays right and he thinks he can break away. Just left here, (he took a beating in crib ;-).

He's being smart and getting his licks in on softer water first
