I finallly bit the bullet and bought Power Point and an new computer loaded with the latest version of Office.

I want to make a Power Point presentation that uses several pages of a Word document. So far I have had no luck at all importing portions of a Word document into Power Point. Can anyone help??

Open up both your Word document and your new Power Point presentation. Minimize the PP file. Copy the text from the Word doc and paste it to the PP file. I'm not sure that importing or exporting would be easy because of sizing. In PP you would just want to bullet your main points. Do you have pictures too? Inserting images is fairly easy. I've done the copy and paste thing before just copying and pasting like a sentence at a time. It's easier than re-typing.

Tried that. Doesn't work. Formatting goes all wonky.

I usually do slides directly in PowerPoint, or just fix the formatting after copying and pasting.

However, if you don't want to do that, you can open the word document and hit the print screen button on your keyboard (it's usually in the upper right corner). This will copy everything on the screen to the clipboard. You can then use the paste command in PowerPoint, and crop it so only the text is showing. You can also resize it to fill the slide. The resolution might be slightly degraded doing it this way, but will be good enough for most purposes.

Hey Dave. If using Office 2007 under the INSERT tab click on the OBJECT icon then click on the Create from file option and then browse for your file.

Good luck!

Hire a cute secretary to transcribe the Word files into Power Point for you. Then take pictures of her in a bikini holding a fish. Then post the pictures here. Please?

I would have to see the Word files before giving sage advice. If you are going from Word to Power Point, you usually need to reorganize your thoughts anyway, so starting from scratch is not necessarily the long way around. Think of it this way: Word is a long narrative and Power Point is the Cliffs Notes...

Thanks guys. Ocean Suns info seems to work fine. But yeah, its tough to insert a detailed file. I may just have to retype it in outline form
