Obama vs Clinton, on their records Let's take a closer look at who's really qualified and or who's really working for the good of all of us in the Senate. Obama or Clinton. Records of these two candidates should be scrutinized in order to make an informed decision.
Senator Clinton, who has served only one full term - 6 yrs. - and another year campaigning, has managed to author and pass into law - 20 - twenty pieces of legislation in her first six years. These bills can be found on the website of the Library of Congress but to save you trouble, I'll post them here for you. 1. Establish the Kate Mullany National Historic Site. 2. Support the goals and ideals of Better Hearing and Speech Month. 3. Recognize the Ellis Island Medal of Honor. 4. Name courthouse after Thurgood Marshall. 5. Name courthouse after James L. Watson. 6. Name post office after Jonn A. O'Shea. 7. Designate Aug. 7, 2003, as National Purple Heart Recognition Day. 8. Support the goals and ideals of National Purple Heart Recognition Day. 9. Honor the life and legacy of Alexander Hamilton on the bicentennial of his death. 10. Congratulate the Syracuse Univ. Orange Men's Lacrosse Team on winning the championship. 11. Congratulate the Le Moyne College Dolphins Men's Lacrosse Team on winning the championship. 12. Establish the 225th Anniversary of the American Revolution Commemorative Program. 13. Name post office after Sergeant Riayan A. Tejeda. 14. Honor Shirley Chisholm for her service to the nation and express condolences on her death. 15. Honor John J. Downing, Brian Fahey, and Harry Ford, firefighters who lost their lives on duty. Only five of Clinton's bills are, more substantive. 16. Extend period of unemployment assistance to victims of 9/11. 17. Pay for city projects in response to 9/11 18. Assist landmine victims in other countries. 19. Assist family caregivers in accessing affordable respite care . 20. Designate part of the National Forest System in Puerto Rico as protected in the wilderness preservation system.
There you have it, the fact's straight from the Senate Record.
Now, I would post those of Senator Obama's, but the list is too substantive, so I'll mainly categorize.
Senator Obama - During the first - 8 - eight years of his elected service he sponsored over 820 bills. He introduced: 233 regarding healthcare reform, 125 on poverty and public assistance, 112 crime fighting bills, 97 economic bills, 60 human rights and anti-discrimination bills, 21 ethics reform bills, 15 gun control, 6 veterans affairs and many others.
His first year in the U.S. Senate, he authored 152 bills and co-sponsored another 427. These included **the Coburn-Obama Government Transparency Act of 2006 - became law, **The Lugar-Obama Nuclear Non-proliferation and Conventional Weapons Threat Reduction Act, - became law, **The Comprehensive Immigration Reform Act, passed the Senate, **The 2007 Government Ethics Bill, - became law, **The Protection Against Excessive Executive Compensation Bill, In committee, and many more.
In all, since entering the U.S. Senate, Senator Obama has written 890 bills and co-sponsored another 1096. An impressive record, for someone who supposedly has no record according to some who would prefer that this comparison not be made public. He's not just a talker. He's a doer.
AND
Here's more to chew on.
Hillary Clinton has been telling America that she is the most qualified candidate for president based on her ‘record,’ which she says includes her eight years in the White House as First Lady - or ‘co-president’ - and her seven years in the Senate. Here is a reminder of what that record includes: - As First Lady, Hillary assumed authority over Health Care Reform, a process that cost the taxpayers over $13 million. She told both Bill Bradley and Patrick Moynihan, key votes needed to pass her legislation, that she would ‘demonize’ anyone who opposed it. But it was opposed; she couldn’t even get it to a vote in a Congress controlled by her own party. (And in the next election, her party lost control of both the House and Senate.) - Hillary assumed authority over selecting a female Attorney General. Her first two recommendations, Zoe Baird and Kimba Wood, were forced to withdraw their names from consideration. She then chose Janet Reno. Janet Reno has since been described by Bill himself as ‘my worst mistake.’ - Hillary recommended Lani Guanier for head of the Civil Rights Commission. When Guanier’s radical views became known, her name had to be withdrawn. - Hillary recommended her former law partners, Web Hubbell, Vince Foster, and William Kennedy for positions in the Justice Department, White House staff, and the Treasury, respectively. Hubbell was later imprisoned, Foster committe d suicide, and Kennedy was forced to resign. - Hillary also recommended a close friend of the Clintons, Craig Livingstone, for the position of director of White House security. When Livingstone was investigated for the improper access of up to 900 FBI files of Clinton enemies (“Filegate”) and the widespread use of drugs by White House staff, both Hillary and her husband denied knowing him. FBI agent Dennis Sculimbrene confirmed in a Senate Judiciary Committee hearing in 1996, both the drug use and Hillary’s involvement in hiring Livingstone. After that, the FBI closed its White House Liaison Office, after serving seven presidents for over thirty years. - In order to open “slots” in the White House for her friends the Thomasons (to whom millions of dollars in travel contracts could be awarded), Hillary had the entire staff of the White House Travel Office fired; they were reported to the FBI for ‘gross mismanagement’ and their reputations ruined. After a thirty-m onth investigation, only one, Billy Dale, was charged with a crime - mixing personal money with White House funds when he cashed checks. The jury acquitted him in less than two hours. - Another of Hil lary’s assumed duties was directing the ‘bimbo eruption squad’ and scandal defense: —- She urged her husband not to settle the Paula Jones lawsuit. —- She refused to release the Whitewater documents, which led to the appointment of Ken Starr as Special Prosecutor. After $80 million dollars of taxpayer money was spent, Starr’s investigation led to Monica Lewinsky, which led to Bill lying about and later admitting his affairs. —- Then they had to settle with Paula Jones after all. —- And Bill lost his law license for lying to the grand jury —- And Bill was impeached by the House. —- And Hillary almost got herself indicted for perjury and obstruction of justice (she avoided it mostly because she repeated, ‘I do not recall,’ ‘I have no recollection,’ and ‘ I don’t know’ 56 times under oath). - Hillary wrote ‘It Takes a Village,’ demonstrating her Socialist viewpoint. - Hill ary decided to seek election to the Senate in a state she had never lived in. Her husband pardoned FALN terrorists in order to get Latino support and the New Square Hassidim to get Jewish support. Hillary also had Bill pardon her brother’s clients, for a small fee, to get financial support. - Then Hillary left the White House, but later had to return $200,000 in White House furniture, china, and artwork she had stolen. - In the campaign for the Senate, Hillary played the ‘woman card’ by portraying her opponent (Lazio) as a bully picking on her. - Hillary’s husband further protected her by asking the National Archives to withhold from the public until 2012 many records of their time in the White House, including much of Hillary’s correspondence and her calendars. (There are ongoing lawsuits to force the release of those records.) - As the ju nior Senator from New York, Hillary has passed no major legislation. She has deferred to the senior Senator (Schumer) to tend to the needs of New Yorkers, even on the hot issue of medical problems of workers involved in the cleanup of Ground Zero after 9/11. - Hillary’s one notable vote; supporting the plan to invade Iraq, she has since disavowed. Quite a resume’. Sounds more like an organized crime family’s rap sheet.

I really liked how they compared apples to oranges. Somebody with half a brain could sort through the BS in this bogus claim that Obama has done more in the Senate than Clinton. Upon further review of the facts, http://www.newsweek.com/id/129976 Obama Clinton Years in Senate 3 7 Bills sponsored* 129 358 Bills passed by Senate 7 32 Bills signed into law 2 19 Sponsored, per year 43 51.1 Passed by Senate, per year 2.3 4.6 Signed into law, per year 0.7 0.7 *Sole original sponsor

If you like funny, read the following it's hilarious!
Looking for Work
A Japanese doctor said, 'Medicine in my country is so advanced that we can take a kidney out of one man, put it in another, and have him looking for work in six weeks.'
A German doctor said, 'That's nothing, we can take a lung out of one person, put it in another, and have him looking for work in four weeks.'
A British doctor said, 'In my country, medicine is so advanced that we can take half of a heart out of one person, put it in another, and have them both looking for work in two weeks.'
A Texas doctor, not to be outdone said, You guys are way behind. We took a man with no brains out of Texas, put him in the White House, and now half the country is looking for work.'

Obama Clinton Years in Senate 3 7 Signed into law, per year 0.7 0.7
Since the Senate is part of the Legislative Branch whose sole purpose is crafting bills to be signed into law as representitive of their constituents, looks to me like they are equally accomplished. A fair comparison would be to take Clinton's first three years and compare them against Obama's.

The thing is, there's way too much "legislation" already...I'd rather find a candidate that goes around deleting stuff.

Can't vote for someone who has Lieberman whispering in his ear all of the time. Talk about leaving an earmark. Anyone think it will be a McCain/Lieberman ticket?

IF A CANDIDATE IS KNOWN BY THE PASTOR THEY KEEP
IF A PASTOR IS KNOWN BY THE COMPANY THEY KEEP!
When the Rev. William Procanick put his hand on the Bible during his sex-abuse trial in Oneida County Court earlier this year, he swore to tell the whole truth and nothing but the truth. But as the former Clinton pastor was sentenced Friday to three years in prison for inappropriately touching a 7-year-old girl at his home last March, Judge Michael L. Dwyer said Procanick sacrificed his honesty the day he testified.
Okay, so now that Bill and Hillary Clinton's pastor has been convicted of child molestation, will we see the same furor directed at Hillary that Obama has had to endure these last few weeks?
Here the CLINTON'S Pastor is convicted of child molestation. So, if Obama bears the guilt for his pastor's comments, then Hillary has to be equally tainted by this guy's crimes, IF A CANDIDATE IS KNOWN BY THE PASTOR THEY KEEP

Subject: The TRUTH about Jeremiah Wright 911 comments ...we bombed Nagasaki, we bombed Hiroshima...' It should be noted that the comments by Jeremiah Wright on 911 that have been replayed thousands of times through the news media, and millions over the Internet, '...we bombed Hiroshima we bombed Nagasaki...the chickens have come home to roast' is actually a quotation. The original remark was made by Edward Peck,a Caucasian former US ambassador to Iraq, and deputy director of Ronald Reagan's terrorism task force. His remarks which were made on FOX News are as follows: "We took this country by terror away from the Sioux, the Apache, Arikara, the Comanche, the Arapaho, the Navajo. " Terrorism: "We took Africans away from their country to build our way of ease and kept them enslaved and living in fear." Terrorism: "We bombed Grenada and killed innocent civilians, babies, non-military personnel .'We bombed the black civilian community of Panama with stealth bombers, and killed unarmed teenage and toddlers, pregnant mothers, and hard working fathers." "We bombed Qaddafi's home, and killed his child. Blessed are they who bash your children's head against the rock." "We bombed Iraq. We killed unarmed civilians trying to make a living. We bombed a plant in Sudan, to pay back for the attack on our embassy, killed hundreds of hard working people, mothers and fathers, who left home to go that day not knowing that they'd never get back home." "We bombed Hiroshima. We bombed Nagasaki, and we nuked far more than the thousands in New York and the Pentagon, and we never batted an eye. 'Kids playing in the playground. Mothers picking up children after school. Civilians, not soldiers, people just trying to make it day by day." 'We have supported state terrorism against the Palestinians and black South Africans, and now we are indignant because the stuff that we have done overseas, is now brought right back into our own front yards. America's chickens are coming home to roost. Violence begets violence. Hatred begets hatred. And terrorism begets terrorism. A white ambassador said that y'all, not a black militant. Not a reverend who preaches about racism. An ambassador whose eyes are wide open, and who is trying to get us to wake up and move away from this dangerous precipice, upon which we are now poised. The ambassador said the people we have wounded don't have the military capability we have. But they do have individuals who are willing to die and take thousands with them. And we need to come to grips with that. The media has cherry picked sound bites from a sermon that are quotations of respectable white US diplomat, with 32 years of foreign service, in order to demonize the Reverend Wright, and damage Barack Obama in the general election. In the link below is a video clip from the 911 sermon. Please take the time to watch it and send it as many people as you can. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QOdlnzkeoyQ After watching this video, in contrast to the clips being played, you truly understand the underhanded nature of the media. I'm truly amazed that no media network has reported the Obama's reverend's comments, were not his own but a quotation. The job of the media is to report the TRUTH , and after two full week, not one of these anchors/pundits/commentators on any network, has even bothered to take the time to listen to the sermon they are indicting the man for. As far as I'm concerned, they're all as bad as FOX. And every time I hear the question, "why didn't he leave the church?' I can't help but wonder, why didn't the nearly 80 million professed Catholics in the US leave their Church, when they found out their church leadership had been involved in cover up of hundreds of priests, who admitted to molesting little boys for decades, by simply moving offending priests to new parishes, until enough complaints built, then moving them on again and again. What I wanna know, is why is Obama the only person being asked these questions. Having been to the atomic bomb museum in Hiroshima, I can only concur. I think a prerequisite to serve in any public office, should be a tour of that place. Shows what america is capable of when threatened........the ultimate terrorist act.

http://www.chicagotribune.com/news/opinion/chi-oped0404wrightapr03,0,225570.storychicagotribune.com Factor military duty into criticism By Lawrence Korb April 3, 2008 By Lawrence Korb and Ian Moss In 1961, a young African-American man, after hearing President John F. Kennedy's challenge to, "Ask not what your country can do for you, but what you can do for your country," gave up his student deferment, left college in Virginia and voluntarily joined the Marines. In 1963, this man, having completed his two years of service in the Marines, volunteered again to become a Navy corpsman. (They provide medical assistance to the Marines as well as to Navy personnel.) The man did so well in corpsman school that he was the valedictorian and became a cardiopulmonary technician. Not surprisingly, he was assigned to the Navy's premier medical facility, Bethesda Naval Hospital, as a member of the commander in chief's medical team, and helped care for President Lyndon B. Johnson after his 1966 surgery. For his service on the team, which he left in 1967, the White House awarded him three letters of commendation. What is even more remarkable is that this man entered the Marines and Navy not many years after the two branches began to become integrated. While this young man was serving six years on active duty, Vice President Dick Cheney, who was born the same year as the Marine/sailor, received five deferments, four for being an undergraduate and graduate student and one for being a prospective father. Presidents Bill Clinton and George W. Bush, both five years younger than the African-American youth, used their student deferments to stay in college until 1968. Both then avoided going on active duty through family connections. Who is the real patriot? The young man who interrupted his studies to serve his country for six years or our three political leaders who beat the system? Are the patriots the people who actually sacrifice something or those who merely talk about their love of the country? After leaving the service of his country, the young African-American finished his final year of college, entered the seminary, was ordained as a minister, and eventually became pastor of a large church in one of America's biggest cities. This man is Rev. Jeremiah Wright, the retiring pastor of Trinity United Church of Christ, who has been in the news for comments he made over the last three decades. Since these comments became public we have heard criticisms, condemnations, denouncements and rejections of his comments and him. We've seen on television, in a seemingly endless loop, sound bites of a select few of Rev. Wright's many sermons. Some of the Wright's comments are inexcusable and inappropriate and should be condemned, but in calling him "unpatriotic," let us not forget that this is a man who gave up six of the most productive years of his life to serve his country. How many of Wright's detractors, Rush Limbaugh and Bill O'Reilly to name but a few, volunteered for service, and did so under the often tumultuous circumstances of a newly integrated armed forces and a society in the midst of a civil rights struggle? Not many. While words do count, so do actions. Let us not forget that, for whatever Rev. Wright may have said over the last 30 years, he has demonstrated his patriotism. Lawrence Korb and Ian Moss are, respectively, Navy and Marine Corps veterans. They work at The Center For American Progress. Korb served as assistant secretary of Defense in the Reagan administration. Copyright © 2008, Chicago Tribune
