I think its closer to back in the day when someone figured out the world was round That's the way science works though, and it shouldn't be swayed by popular beliefs. We have an impact, but maybe not as much as we think. One way or another, ma nature will find a way to squash us to balance things out Stam you are hired! I'm headed to the OP with my family this weekend. hoping to find a steelhead or springer if I can sneak away for the mornings! cheers, Neal

I think the term is Climate Change these day's which it's pretty obvious we are in weird weather patterns but I leave stuff like that to the scientists. Anyone watch Jean Michael Cousteau Return to the Amazon last night? If I remember right 17% of the Amazon has been wiped out in the last 30 years and any given day 7,200 purposely set fires are burning to clear forest. Double whammy. Major polluting of the atmosphere while wiping out what cleans the atmosphere.

I'll be up at Mora this weekend. See ya up there. It was an interesting test up until something caught my eye: "The actual exhaust emissions come from the smokestack, which is the tall skinny tower. Because modern technology makes it possible to remove much of the fly ash and sulfur before releasing smokestack gases to the air, smokestack emissons today are often almost invisible." I dunno why a Geology website is involving itself with the Global Warming debate. Here it almost seems like its saying Coal-fired Power plants are clean and harmless and non-polluting. Hmm... I suspect: Geology Website+'clean fossil fuel Power Plants'=Coal Power Industry? AH-HA! Here it is! The Website is brought To you by...*drumroll* 'West Virginia Fossil! ' Per US Dept of Energy Website: "West Virginia is the largest coal-producing state in the region, and the second largest coal-producing state in the U.S. ... When coal is burned as fuel, it gives off carbon dioxide, the main greenhouse gas that is linked with global warming. Burning coal also produces emissions, such as sulfur, nitrogen oxide (NOx), and mercury, that can pollute the air and water. Sulfur mixes with oxygen to form sulfur dioxide (SO2), a chemical that can affect trees and water when it combines with moisture to produce acid rain. Emissions of nitrogen oxide help create smog, and also contribute to acid rain. Mercury that is released into the air eventually settles in water. The mercury in the water can build up in fish and shellfish, and can be harmful to animals and people who eat them. The Clean Air Act and the Clean Water Act require industries to reduce pollutants released into the air and the water. Now let see what The Fossil Fuel Industry has to say, shall we? Ummm... not much: The improvement in America’s air quality over the past 30 years has been remarkable and more can be done to further improve our environment while ensuring that our nation continues to have a reliable and affordable electricity supply. I guess that's what to expect from Corporate Shills. The website that "test" comes from is devoted to the Coal Industry of West Virginia. http://www.geocraft.com/WVFossils/panorama/panorama3.htmlLook closer at where you get your information from.

I too enjoyed the clean air BS they were pushing. Forget the global warming crap, if you want to know what coal fired plants do to the environment, check out mainland China right now. Talk about acid rain, not to mention the many other environmental catastrophes they are creating over there. Oh yeah, that's where all our manufacturing jobs went, along with our acid rain and other pollution... As far as the test, I got nine out of ten, but I was constantly looking over my shoulder to see if BlueJay was involved somehow Definitely some truth mixed with agenda/propaganda.

Nobody knows more than Nobel Prize Winner Al Gore. I mean, C'mon!:roll eyes: When dealing with politics, and huge sums of money, those who equivocate, those who might say "I'm not sure what the answer is to that question", they get eaten alive. Al Gore thinks highly of himself, as would I, if I had come that close to losing the election for president. He still doesn't hold a clean burning torch to Dick Cheney. Our VP makes Trump look humble. Irie, good job tracking the money. Sol, check your forehead. Sometimes girls will tatt "OWNED" on a boyfriends forehead while they sleep.

Yes, it was a good trace, Irie. Always worthwhile knowing the source of information. Worth keeping in mind also, is the fact that even an idiot can speak the truth.....and it doesn't make it less the truth. IMO, the effort spent looking for untruths is honorable indeed, on the other hand, intentionally looking to NOT reveal the truth is cowardly and deceitful. Afterall, how can one be expected to make good decisions without the whole truth? hmmmm...appears we've circled full around once again.
