back in the 80s when we had a oil shortage and long gas lines the government drop the speed limit to 55. i was just wondering why it don't do it now to save gas and get the price down a little.

There isn't a gas shortage. Have you seen any stations with signs that say only selling 10 gallons at a time.

The gov't dropped the speed limit hoping to reduce consumption of gasoline - it had nothing to do with pricing. I feel your pain though at the pump, "Meet my friend Ben Dover."
