A freind said he saw commercial boats in the columbia netting over the weekend? does anyone know if this is true or not? They are not suppossed to be fishing below I-5 this year. Have the departments ******* us again?
If anyone knows anything about this please let us know.

I am sure it was just a "test" fishery, or a "subsistance" fishery or a "sea lion mitigation fishery" (take all the fish out of the river and the sea lions disappear). I am sure they would never have an under the radar fishery in the hopes of making money....

Yeah, Staff at DFW favored the continuation of the test fishery as an attempt to provide historical data, stock composition, mark rate, etc...

Best way to cut off these "test fishery"......all fish to be donated to "food banks, nursing homes, etc" Would love to see the very same done during all "in river netting".......be it tribal or non-tribe.......why should the commerical fleets benefit, $$$$$$$$, by being allowed to sell "incidentally(???) caught fish"?????

Just make it so they can catch their own... You're not in the fish market business, you're in the guiding business.

I don't know anything about boats n nets this past weekend but apparently there was a meeting today,

http://www.dfw.state.or.us/fish/OSCRP/CRM/CAN/08/08_04_07_notice.pdf

Looks like the commercial season is on tommorrow at 7AM.

Too bad the sportsmen don't have observers on the boats.

after reading the above post's attachment I'm not sure what all the hoopla is.....They are getting their Tuesdays-only fishery above I-5 just like was posted and agreed upon by the states in earlier season-setting meetings. Tomorrow is Tuesday.

Not supporting nor condoning the commercial fishery, just trying to clarify.

There were test boats out this weekend. I saw them putting out their nets. I even called 911, got in touch with gamey's in WA AND OR and they were actually moving towards the area to apprehend these guys when they finally got in touch with someone who told them it was a test boat.
