WOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Can you imagine the strength of his hands. I bet that guy could break every bone in your hand if he wanted, when shaking hands.

He was doing the equivalent of MEGA bungee jumping. tying 4 or 5 climbing ropes together and then jumping off a cliff. Free falling about 600 feet (+/-) and then being caught by the ropes.

There was an equipment failure of some sort on his last jump, off the Leaning Tower in YNP, and he fell to his death.

I had never heard of this guy until today. I was a little upset to hear that he was dead. Weird dude. I found this on wiki

Dan Osman
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Dan Osman (February 11, 1963–November 23, 1998) was an Asian American extreme sport practitioner, known for the dangerous sports of "free-soloing" (rock climbing without ropes or other safety gear); and "rope jumping" (controlled free-falling) (falling several hundred feet from a cliff then being caught by a safety rope), for which his record was over 1200 feet. He was known for living a bohemian lifestyle, rarely working, and living in a tree house for months at a time. He was the star of several rock climbing videos, which brought free-soloing to a wider audience. Dan had one daughter

He died on November 23, 1998 at the age of 35 after his rope failed while performing a "controlled free-fall" jump from the Leaning Tower rock formation in Yosemite National Park. The failure was investigated by the National Park Service with assistance from Chris Harmston, Quality Assurance Manager at Black Diamond Equipment. Harmston concluded that a change in jump site angle probably caused the ropes to cross and entangle, leading to the rope cutting by melting.[2] Miles Daisher, who was with Osman when he made the jump, stated that the ropes used in his fatal jump had been exposed to inclement weather - including rain and snow - for more than a month before the fatal jump, but that the same ropes were used for several shorter jumps on the previous and same day.[3]

Back in the late 90's I saw a huge poster of Dan hanging underneath a cliffs over hang. I had no idea who he was, but remembered thinking what freaking huge BALL'S that dudes got.

I to was a little upset...and read a few articles on the net.

It all comes down to living life to it fullest, each and everyday. He was 35 when he died, but had already made his mark in life.

Wow. What a great physical specimen that guy was.

I like the comments saying what an idiot he was. I mean, really if he had got hit by a car on the way to the jump site, he would be even more legendary. Especially when the people making the comments probably drive for 15 minutes to get a parking spot closer to the entrance of McDonalds.

Most Americans can't do a single pullup. That guy could pull his entire body with 3 fingertips on one hand.

Yeah, it got him on YouTube.

If you die from choking on a Quarter Pounder you'll have a sweet YouTube tribute, I'm sure of it. "At least he died doing what he loved . . . "
