GWYNEDD, WALES—Calling it the planet's last, best hope for saving rock music, the Guardians of the Protectorate of Rock announced Monday that they would take the extraordinary step of unleashing a never-before-heard Jimmy Page riff, hidden for decades in a mythic, impenetrable vault.

"We who believe in the immortality of rock took a vow 30 years ago that we would never release this incredibly powerful force unless we faced a Day of Reckoning—and that day has come," said Black Sabbath guitarist Tony Iommi, one of the chosen few who helped forge the Secret Vault to Save Rock and Roll, at a press conference in the Welsh highlands. "Just look at the pop charts, and you shall know I speak the truth."

Gives me shivers. As a fellow guitar player & conseuer (excuse the spelling) of rock,metal, hard rock, and instrumental geniuses like Vai, Yngve malmstein, eric johnson, satriani, etc. It is so friggin rad to hear their is a united front against the crap. At the same time everyone's ear is their own and that is the beauty of art and music. What one might spend $250 on a ticket is a worthless endevor to another. So what, it is still music whether crap to one and gold to another. What needs to happen is a musical revolution to counter the one which contains so much garbage in the ears of millions who worship the power of the ROCK. So all I can hope is ac/dc, VH, you name it steps in and has the attitude of wait we built this mofo and we will be damned if some fall out boy f** wants to fill our arenas. Then go and take a rocking young band out on tour who carries the flag as well and take them under their wing so to speak. For the riff. Good god can't wait to hear that. FOR THOSE ABOUT TO ROCK " WE SALUTE YOU" Have fun at the maiden and Rush shows for all going, the roar of dickinson and the thunder of pert are back.

awaiting the sound of the great page riff, i too refuse to listen to the radio because of the poor crap that is so prevalent today. i feel sorry for the kids who have to listen to the septic tank bands of today.
