Kumbaya, my Lord, Kumbaya,

Someone`s singing, Lord, Kumbaya,
Someone`s singing, Lord, Kumbaja.
Someone`s singing, Lord, Kumbaya, oh Lord, Kumbaya.
Someone`s praying, Lord, Kumbaya,

Someone`s crying, Lord, Kumbaya,

Someone`s sleeping Lord, Kumbaya,
Someone`s sleeping, Lord, Kumbaya.

It is amazing what can happen when a few people with issues start calling each other out. I am referring of course to the thread entitled "KALAMA" on the Fishing board. We have heard from three of the four parties that have first hand knowledge of the event. The only person who we haven't heard from is the "victim". It then went in a clockwise spiral down the sh!tter. Let me say that I wasn’t there so I don’t have first hand knowledge of the event therefore everything I know is hearsay. Not admissible in court but it sure seems to be here on the internet. I would really like all of you that seem to have issues with each other hold cyber hands and sing along around the cyber campfire. This “group” has become a bunch of bickering babies.
In the words of Rodney crack head King “Can’t we all just get along?”
Now everybody kiss and make up.

Guess what I just found out ?? My riding lawn mower goes faster in reverse than it does in forward.. No fooling.. I'm serious.

I'm not sure how that makes me feel. On one hand its pretty cool to be going fast backwards, but on the other hand, it only mows when its moving forward. I guess I have a choice to make.

Also, I have been considering just taking off down the road with a full tank of gas and see how far I can go until it runs out. Maybe time myself and come up with a miles per hour figure.

Its good to be me with so many things to do that keep me busy.

Big gulps huh ?? well... see ya later !!!

I don't think it's too much estrogen...I think that there are a few dudes with too much sand in the areas where they should have a penis...rubs 'em the wrong way.

I think it's funny that they think they have a big hardon while they are dishing it out, but when they get it dished back at 'em, they find out that they really just have some sandy dangly bits.

Fish on...

I'm puzzled as can be that guys I know on this board - tho not especially well - have descended to taking personal shots at one another. Makes me wonder just WTF is going on around here beneath the surface. Altho I'd like to think I have enough of a real life to not waste time wondering about things I read on the internet BB.

So you're complaining about people taking "personal shots" at one another... then calling them a bunch of girls? I guess it's all good as long as you're not too specific. grin

Also, SG, you're avatar is FUBAR'D.

I keep my shots limited to broad generalizations. It's more polite that way, and it makes me come off as a benign rambling jack-ass, as opposed to a person with some grudge out to repeatedly & maliciously slander another's character.

Those who want to get personal on the intarweb are just little chickenschits who were to busy brown-nosing the teacher to learn on the playground during recess what happens when you really "call someone out."

I think being vague is more cowardly than saying directly to someone that you have a problem with who they are or what they are doing/have done.

That being said, public forums may or may not be the place for that... If it is, the standard has to be consistant; it's either not tolerated at all, or it's open season....

I prefer the free-for-all scenario myself, and recommend thick skin and sharp wit. In any case, being a jerk to someone you think is being a jerk makes you a jerk, so a structural analysis of your domicile might be in order before you commence to launching igneous projectiles.

If this doesn't work maybe we could arrange a cage fight at one of the local boat launches. Hey let's do it at the Lewis Street launch on June 28, sometime around 2:30 to 3:30 PM. Make sure to bring plenty of liquor and wear your favorite wife-beater Tee shirt.

Lowedown,

Touche'! Point taken - almost. Please note that I didn't call any guy a girl. It's the behavior - acting like girls in junior high school. That's supposed to be a difference with a distinction. I agree that if you've got a beef with someone, be clear and direct; don't make vague generalizations. I like to think that's what I do. My observation is a general one, so that's why I made it general instead of a specific complaint to Todd, Stam, Jake, Vince, and whoever else is playing this game.

I don't favor a "no tolerance" policy, and I don't think it has to be "no holds barred open season." People worth having around on a web site are those who are intelligent enough to conduct themselves according to a set of rules, even rules for disputes and fights. Mods fill the gap when people won't follow the rules. Remember, the value of any web site is its content, so the material people contribute and how they contribute should add value, not detract from it. I try to follow that policy for the most part, and it seems to work for me.

Yes, my avatar got all FUBAR during the system change over a year ago last New Year's. It didn't survive the change at all this time. I'll try to put up a new one when I have some time to waste.

Sincerely,

Salmo g.

Well, there goes the "lightly moderated" policy on the Dark Side...

Jerry, if folks can't handle it, they don't have to read it...and like I've said a few times in the past two days, if you're dumb enough to make yourself a bed you don't like, that doesn't mean you're excused from lying in it...having others fight your battles for you when it gets too hot for you isn't part of "being a man", at least not the way I learned it.

Fish on...

"Covering a guys back" is fine for the dude doing it...I respect that.

"Tucking tail and running" when you are the one being covered is not, and is not worthy of any respect at all.

I still think you should "park" aunty for a month or so when she hits 9999 (posts that is, not years). She can watch us all make fun of her for a few days and won't be able to call Todd a turd. doh

The light moderation on this site is what seperates it from the rest. In a good way. But, some of these pissing matches get way to personal and put our Moderators in a difficult position. It's like we're trying to see how far we can push it before things get shut down. Why can't people see that their actions (words) on this board affect the board as a whole and make others have to decide how best to handle the situation? Meaning, let's moderate ourselves just a bit better. That way this place can maintain it's personality without others stepping in to steer it in a direction none of us want to see it go in the first place.

At least half of the problem is not the folks participating in the stupid bashes...it's the non-participants burning bandwidth and energy whining about it...for post after post.

Half the chit would go away faster if there weren't a bunch of self-appointed internet police whining about it, and just extending its life.

The people I don't get are the ones who PM the mod's and complain. I've never complained to a site about it's contents or members in my life. If I don't like it I don't read it or I go elsewhere. However, I am all for banning everybody but me!

Parker is not a real person. Just an internet persona.

Now, time to cool down my "inner rage" by listening to "Down with the Sickness" by Disturbed....

Probably gas.

Speaking of which, I think it's about that time I teach my 3 year old the "pull my finger" game.

I am SO gonna get the Father of the Year award!!! Both children already fetch and open beers for me out of the beer fridge. I'm a shoe in!

I didn't actually mention naked Chico State coeds, but that should show up on the "Thursday bikini thread". Thanks JG, now I won't be worth squat all afternoon either. I'll bet if I were Sol, I could polish one off in the office and get a promotion while I was at it!!! rofl rofl rofl

Very good, Parker. That's a great game for kids. Our adopted son was 11 years old when he fell for that one so I knew he hadn't really spent time around older guys. He just mentioned it the other day how he can't wait to ask his own kid to pull his finger to pass on a family tradition.

yea there was some very sad low standards recently. brewer was shocked and amased at the things being said. and i quote "uncool", "dipsh!t", "friggen tool" and many other unsavory terms were used towards brewer. basically very uncalled for. fortunately brewer is a very non-sensetive sorta guy.

If you're on the lookout for a creamy, delicious, vanilla-spiked tapioca pudding recipe, this is it. I came back from Rome and spent the following Sunday down the peninsula at my parent's house looking at old slides and playing around with various tapioca pudding recipes, ingredients, and techniques. It's no secret that I much prefer a silky smooth, chocolate pudding, but I know many of you are like my dad - big-time tapioca pudding fans. This little exercise nearly made be a convert.
My dad is known to be quite generous with his tapioca pudding - my grandma and her 90 year old friends would receive weekly deliveries up until she passed away last year. I can only imagine it makes appearances at his office on a regular basis as well. Over the years he has been known to use various recipes, mixes, and whatnot in his tapioca puddings, but I wanted to zero in on one master recipe to share with you, the quintessential tapioca pudding recipe. We looked at his approach, my aunt weighed in with her recipe, and I introduced some ideas to the mix. What we ended up with was a perfect pudding good enough to make me consider switching from silky smooth to bumps and lumps indefinitely.
Onto the basics. A great batch of tapioca requires equal parts patience, attentiveness, and top-notch ingredients. Like a risotto or polenta there is much stirring involved, and you need to watch the pudding religiously. That being said, broadly speaking, making tapioca is relatively simple. When I asked my dad to articulate the most important, top-level considerations here's what he said:
- Use your thickest-bottomed pot - this will help prevent scorching. Once you've scorched the pudding, that's it - you've ruined it. He uses his Le Crueset dutch oven pot, but surprised me when he said for extra large batches he sometimes deploys the base of his pressure cooker (!?) which is very large, and very heavy. He never pressurizes it, just uses the pot part.
- Pay attention to temperature. You need to bring the tapioca pudding mixture up slowly for a few reasons. To avoid scorching, but also this gives the tapioca balls time to cook as they are coming up to a boil.
- Stir constantly. I have to admit that I get lazy and don't stir the entire time, and if your stove isn't overly hot, this is fine. But my dad likes to stir the whole time.
- Make a double batch - one for you and one to share. The recipe below is for a single batch, but easily doubles.
Before we move onto the recipe itself, here are a few other things I noticed as we cooked our way through various batches. It is important to soak small pearl tapioca before attempting to make pudding with it, or your texture will be off. Some people soak overnight, but we found that 30 minutes or so worked with small tapioca, resulting in a lively textured tapioca with wonderful creamy, custard bridging the beads. Many recipes call for water, I loved the 100% milk version we did, we even soaked the tapioca balls in milk - whole milk for that matter - again going after rich, creaminess. We did one batch with instant tapioca - this comes in a box, and like instant oatmeal the tapioca pieces are much smaller (and in this case also pre-cooked). The universal feeling among everyone who tasted it didn't have anything to do with the actual flavor (which was decent), there was an aversion to the gelatinous texture - maybe coming from the soy lecithin additive? Not sure, but starting from scratch with the small pearl tapioca was the way to go - Bob's Red Mill All Natural Small Pearl Tapioca worked beautifully as a base ingredient. And one last note, I know many people like to do the "fluffy" version of tapioca pudding, where you beat egg whites and fold them in - it is an extra step and I like a denser pudding, so that isn't something I incorporated here.

Todd likes the Brewer, 'cuz the Brewer made two death-defying trips from Camas to the Kalama in one day.

The condition that made the trips death-defying was that it was his father-in-law's vehicle, that I gathered was not supposed to be making those trips...and the Brewer got caught in the act.

Brewer's death-defying heroics resulted in Todd getting lots of schwag, including a neon Bridgeport Blue Heron Ale sign that has been lit...27/7...in Todd's office for going on three years, since the day Todd received it from the Brewer.

The Brewer is OK in Todd's book.

Fish on...

Todd

We think of the Brewer in low terms because of the reply the Brewer made in another thread about a disabled fisherman that we thought was less than appropiate.

Strange as it seems, Todd thinks the Brewer may have actually started to mellow in his old age.

Stever should have seen him years ago when he was still young and dumb, and fulla cum... smile

for those of you that can only write in the third person when responding to or writing about The Brewer, it's because he put something in your beer! I have not had the pleasure of getting beer from Brewer, so I am able to write in the first person. However, The Brewer is welcome to PM me for my shipping address to send me his mind altering beer! grin

thanks marsha that was very eloquently put, and explained. here is something brewer has never done before, explain why brewer is the SOB he is today. i never share my upbringing. so i will share a story.

being a bed wetter as a young man, my mother was getting frustrated with me. she severely spanked me, telling me i was lazy. my own brothers nicknamed me Piss. this all hurt me very much. being young it took its emotional toll on me and began the course to where i am today. finally one morning after another pulling off the wet clothes spanking my mother tried a new tactic. while i was brushing my teeth my mother got out some paper and wrote in big brite letters. "i'm a bed wetter" she pinned it to the back of my starwars jacket. this tactic was to humiliate me to the point of stopping the bed wetting. being still young i knew this was going to very imbarrassing. then she walked me to school..... no kidding. walked me to my class. the razzing i got was bruttal. being a junior in high school was rough already for me.

things like this damaged me .

Nice setup, and delivery Brewer.

You are definitely my favorite poster on this board. You can deal it out with great levity and in a very entertaining fashion. I find your jokes about yourself, other board posters, random people, and people with disabilities to be equally as funny and tasteless.

to mildly correct Marsha on the bass i caught during the gals only guided trip. i caught the only steelhead that day on the cave boat. the other guy caught the bass. the only reason for the correction is because i have not caught steelhead since.
