I know chances are low of finding what I want here but what the heck.
I'm looking for a GWP.
I would prefer a puppy but would consider an adoption or rescue situation.
If the perfect lab came along I would consider that too.

When I was a kid a buddy of my dads had a GWP that had gotten knocked up by a Doberman Pincer. The litter of pups that resulted from that mix had "bad" temperments. Eyes open only a few weeks and they were jumping up and snapping at the face of of kids. They would fight with one another until they were bleeding. The whole F'n litter was put to sleep for the safety of humanity. No joke.

From what I've experienced a pure bred GWP is a great dog if run and trained frequently. They need the running and something to click their brain.

Glad you are looking at getting another partner Dave. Kosmo would be happy as well.

Drop it in a vat of hot oil and toss it out the window in Pioneer Square.

I've been watching this one for three weeks while his mom has been traveling. Last time I did that the thing up and died. At least this one is still kicking. The last one is 3 ft under in the backyard. I got up extra early the next morning to make sure the racoons hadn't dug it up like they did the steelie and springer carcasses I burried in the garden. I guess they don't like guine pigs as much as they like fish.

Dog's too tough. It needs to be stewed or slow roasted. No joke.

Seastrike, I talked to a fellow steelheader from Oregon that breeds and trains German Shorthair Pointers. Has them trained for chukar hunting. He gave us a demonstration last summer at the campground. Well trained friendly dogs. The older female had a hip problem. His name is Paul Martinsen and he is near Salem, http://www.versatiledogs.com/kennels/gsp12.html

He also told us the story about the world record fly caught Chinook his brother Grant got on the Rogue a few years ago before they went chuckar hunting east of the mountains, http://sports.espn.go.com/outdoors/fishing/news/story?page=ff_fea_salmon_record-by-fly02_Freeman

Cool story on the nookie. I remember that one. I was looking for a wirehair though since I duck hunt.
I actually found a dog today. AKC yellow lab and the mom is a pointing lab. The puppy I'm going to look at tomorrow points now at 10 weeks.
I'm amped.

That's cool Seastrike!

The coolest thing was that after that nookie story I became inspired and went up river. Fished it hard for a couple of hours and didn't see a thing. Was getting dark and I hooked a summerun on the break. Took me downstream, bonked it, and biked it back to the park.

The premier GWP Breeder in Oregon is Doctor Ray Caulkins at the Wilsonville Vet Clinic (503) 682-3737. His dogs consistently place in the top 5 field trials nationally. I beleive he has a litter now. He also knows where and who has the best dogs. Ray took care of 7 generations of my GSP's, wonderful vet.
