Odds are you've never heard of this car.

Why not?

Why is a French company developing it with zero help from the high rolling US-UK dominated global financial system which until recently had money for every loony scheme imaginable?

Answer: The banking system and the oil industry are closely intertwined and they want to protect their investment in the gasoline infrastructure at all costs.

Fortunately, France doesn't have the same commitment to gasoline as fuel that the US and UK does.

France does have oil companies, but it doesn't have the equivalent of Exxon or Royal Dutch Shell.

India doesn't either.

But the French and the Indians do have superb engineers.

Assuming that the collapse of the global financial system doesn't derail the launch of this car, India and France will have vehicles that are completely independent of the oil companies.

No toxic fuel, no toxic emissions, super low cost, utter reliability, and here's the really cool part: the "fuel" could be available anywhere there is room for an air compressor including your own home.

What's not to like about this? Why is the news of this technology all but banned in the US?

The banking system and the oil industry (and news media industry) are closely intertwined.

It's really that simple.

I've seen them on TV before. It still takes energy to compress air. I'm all for alternative fuels, but it takes a certain amount of energy to move a vehicle from point A to point B. That energy can be stored in the vehicle as batteries, as hydrogen fuel, as compressed air, or as gasoline. It still has to start with an energy source. I think the compressed air idea is really thinking outside the box which is what we need.

I sense a new kind of jet boat coming....maybe more akin to a "fart" boat. smile

The idea has a little merit, but I doubt the big car manufacturers are much intimidated.

I once had an idea (beginner's luck smile ) that if I used an electric outboard and attached a paddle wheel type alternator to the side of the boat, I could recharge the battery as I went. You know the perpetual motion fishing machine... smile ....

It doesn't work....can't create energy without expending an equal amount. Some guy named Einstein had some theories along those lines.

The new LeCar - sweet!

France has like 60 nuclear reactors supplying their power (87% according to Wikipedia), so their dependence on fossil fuels is already a lot less than ours.

Prez Obama really tuned down his support of Nuclear Power throughout the campaign, no doubt to keep his Liberal voters happy. I hope he can tune it back up going forward.

We have air tools in the shop--- not sure how efficient an air compressor is.

Wonder how much PSI it requires.

I've found Gas Stations Compressors that wont fill my airbags past 50psi.

Energy source for these cars exists in massive quantities, check out Gun Control thread...enough hot air there to last a millenium.

That little piece of sh!t is a good idea for going on a beer run or to the post office. A slight breeze would blow that thing off the road (it has no ass). Like hohbomb said "can it tow a boat?". Maybe one of those granola kayaks. It wont tote a fishing boat or take me hunting.

I am all for alternative fuels and clean air but I dont want to lose the power and ass.

Good start but keep work'n folks because I aint buy'n.

Those cars have been on the prowl for a while now. And they do make a car that can compress its own air with the air that is already compressed. so in reality the thing could potentially run on its own for who know how long. Torque is definitely not in the cards though.

Believe it or not, one of the biggest hurdles to more fuel efficient cars is highway safety standards. Each safety design feature adds additional weight that reduces fuel efficiency by increasing the inertia each engine must overcome.

As far as pneumatics goes, that is actually one of the oldest automobile technologies. Before the internal combustion engine was vogue, steam engines powered "horseless carriages." Leave it to the French to repackage 150 year-old technology into a "new" idea. It's also not efficient.

Here's a link to an article that sums up my thoughts pretty well.
