Just a little rant about things to come in the near future that started today. I got my phone bill and saw an obvious increase. It was up by 16%. I went thru the charges compared to the last cycle (month). The increase was in the form of local,state and federal tax increases on the services. I only have the basic service so it was not a back breaker, but I honestly believe we will see these "new" taxes on all services as the year continues. Starting this last year the state added the sales tax to the cost of renewing my membership dues in a camping club. Another $35. We no longer have a cell phone, but on the last billing was a city tax on the bill. What the hell does the city have to do with a cell phone that was seldom used in the city? Then to top that off, the garbage bill had a 20% increase in the "refuse" tax. So they tax you (sales) to buy the stuff, then add on a tax to throw it away.

i live out of town and found a city tax on my telephone bill. turns out that they use the zip code to figure the tax and if you do not catch it and bitch they collect the tax. a wind fall for towns.

They only shifted the burden from one tax source (Car Tabs on $75,000+ luxury cars, etc, i.e.) to nailing everyone on every little thing.

She's crying and groveling as we speak, for a bigger allowance. Apparently she thinks all people should help her spend. And they didn't even vote for her!! What a hoot!
