Check out his latest initiative: http://www.permanent-offense.org/

I don't get it. Most of the State's cities and counties are in a perpetual decline in revenue. This initiative assumes revenue is growing enough every year, that when capped at inflation, will provide all of this extra money to lower property taxes.

I am not at all an Eyman fan. He has lost a lot of his appeal over the years. If you watch this guy in a debate about Goverment, he is good for about 5 minutes and then has nothing left.

I liked that he lowered vehicle tabs. Used to be a pain in the arse when the car and truck tabs came due at the same time. I understand that the government needs revenue to fix the roads. I'd rather pay more in gas tax.

Sure, but 6 years from now when they are over inflating the value of your truck by a substantial amount and taxing based on their assessment you might have a different opinion. What the state was doing with vehicle licensing was almost criminal. Pretty much the same way they assess your home value and tax you on it. OVER-INFLATED! The people of this state had been asking for years to change the valuation process to something that resembles reality but the state only had $ signs in it's eyes. I'm not an Eyman fan but our state was basically stealing from us.

I had a 10 year old Ford Ranger with 215,000 miles and they were taxing me based on their value of $7,500. Huh? If they hadn't been doing that for so many years people wouldn't have voted for 696 or whatever it is. 10 year old Subaru Outback worth $12,000?

Aunty, move into King County. Your opinion of county government would be a bit different. I really don't expect them to be fiscally responsible. After all, it isn't their money being spent on self cleaning toilets.

King County isn't Mason County. We have over 1.5 million people living here. We also have a pretty big percentage of the State's high maintenance people. Add to that all of the infrastructure to support this large population and business center and I think you can see that goverment here has a much bigger challenge.

I don't particular care for Ron Sims or some of the King County Council, but it is a daunting task to run a county as big and diverse as King . King County is facing and will face even bigger challenges as revenue continues to dry up. Eyman's idea of doing tax policy by inititative has alreaady contributed to many of the problems local goverments face. But, on the other hand, people vote for it. So people shouldn't complain when you can't get a cop or snow plow when you want it.

Mike, you're right. 1.5 million people is a pretty large tax base. Too many needy hands out there. Too many of them don't own a vehicle or home and are more than willing to cast their vote to tax people who do own an automobile and a home.

Eyman's a tool. No disagreement here.

They fund crap that isn't important and ask us to vote for Medic 1 levies or more money to keep our parks open.

Man, I hope I can get $12 K for my Subaru when it's 10 years old. Shouldn't have more than about 160,000 miles on it by then. That would be quite the trade-in!

Back on topic, Eyman needs to do us a favor and slip on some ice this winter. But I hear ya' on inflated property tax values. My undeveloped assessed property value went up about 60% in 2008, which as we know was an outstanding year for real estate. I wouldn't have minded if they logically increased the value when the house is built. I shudder to think what they're gonna' think it's worth when they come by this year and see a house and garage.

My beef is that the state will say your vehicle is worth one amount and tax you based on that, while your insurance company will say you vehicle is worth much less than that if they total it and have to cut you a check.

If the state says your rig is worth 12K, they should also REQUIRE your insurer to pay you that amount if your rig is totaled.

Horrible initiative. The way I read it this would cap the rate of government growth at the rate of inflation. Since many, if not most Gov't salaries are based on the rate of inflation, this means the government could never grow over its current size. No more state patrol agents, ever? No more gov't raises without retirement offsets. What about in the event of huge growth or a wide spread catastrophe? Sorry, this sucks. The correct way to do it is to limit the increase of Property tax revenue by the amount of inflation plus perhaps one half to one percent. The new capped revenue amount would be established. Seperately, properties would be valued according to improvements, declining values, and neighborhood valuation changes. Once all changes were accounted for, the county would establish the rate for all properties. New properties would be charged the new established rate, allowing for appropriate growth of government. In addition, improvements to existing properties would be parred against depreciation of existing properties and the overall revenue amount raised or lowered by that amount. By allowing for up to 1 % over inflation we could fund new programs as needed and take care of needed raises and retirement issues. Since much of our property tax is based on levies, needed improvements in many areas could be submitted as levy increases, subject to a 60% vote. In my opinion this creates a fair and balance approach to government expenses and keeps away the feast and famine of property valuation swings, since the overall valuations have nothing to do with revenue levels. But, of course when I have proposed this to my state legislatures they look at me like they have no Idea how this could ever work.

He writes initiatives because he profits off them. Fawktards to cheap to contribute to thier community keep supporting him with donations. Funny thing is, they spend more fighting taxes than they do in actual taxes. Idiots.
