The fact that it even gets brought up is amazing. How do these people get into office that put this stuff forward. Talk about trampling rights. Who comes up with htese bills and calls for votes. We need to bounce these people out of office.

HB 1382 - DIGEST
Requires the sheriff or director of public safety of
every county, the chief of police of every city or town, and
every chief officer of other law enforcement agencies duly
operating within this state, to cause the collection of
biological samples for DNA identification analysis from all
adults and juveniles lawfully arrested for the commission of
any criminal offense constituting a felony, gross misdemeanor,
or patronizing a prostitute under RCW 9A.88.110.
Expands the list of what must be deposited into the state
DNA database account.
Provides penalties.

What's the difference between being fingerprinted and having a cheek swab (DNA) done?

Uhm, you're more likely to leave a DNA sample than your fingerprints if you rape someone? The upshot is that you can more readily be identified if the gov't has both your fingerprints and DNA on file.

You can burn off you fingerprints but teh DNA would pretty much be a constant(.......I dont think I want the govern having either.

So, let me get this straight, if I'm planning on raping someone, I should oppose this legislation?

Well, since I'm a former LEO, and have had security clearances as Congressional staff, I'm already on file with fingerprints, so I can't do much about that. But I don't plan on being arrested any time soon for anything, so I don't think I'll be donating a DNA sample. ----but if I plan on raping, murdering or otherwise pillaging anyone, and possibly being arrested, I'll give a thought to opposing such legislation.
