Does anyone in Grays Harbor or Raymond area have set of bronze driftboat oarlocks they would like to sell? I'm currently using a steel galvanized set, and I am needing to 'quiet' the oars better. On that subject, does anyone have suggestion on muffling oar noise?

Put WD-40 on the post, and try a rubber or plastic gasket between the oar lock and the gunwale.

Fish on...

thanks, I've got some neoprene material I'll use for a gasket between the oarlock block and the gunwale. What can wrap the oars in to help?

You're already on the right track...bronze is much quieter than steel...for some reason it doesn't seem to squeak as much when it rubs on the wraps, be they rope or plastic sleeves.

If you're using rope, the tighter the wrap, the less the squeak.

Fish on...

I have a good set. I know a game warden in the area and can get them down to Raymond in about 2 weeks. Tell me what you would like to pay. Craig (ctflyfish@aol.com)
