SPOKANE, Wash. - Officials at Washington State University will no longer pursue playing Apple Cup football games at Qwest Field in Seattle.

School president Elson Floyd and Athletic Director Jim Sterk said a proposal to play the next three WSU home games against rival Washington at Qwest Field is dead.

They said in a press release that agreement could not be reached on how to maintain a neutral-site atmosphere at the game.

Sterk released a statement saying, “our student-athletes and Cougar fans would not be best served without this key component. I was not going to continue following a path that was not in the best interest of WSU Athletics, the university and our fans."

School officials say there was never a final agreement at any time.

Sterk was also quoted saying "We may be a bit slower over here but sometimes we actually do catch on before it's too late...you know the old fool me three times fool me...wait....you know what I mean?"

"Both schools sought to raise revenues that would help cover rising tuition for scholarship athletes and other costs. Playing the game at Qwest would have paid each program potentially $2 million per year, according to reports.

Currently, each team gets $240,000 for games played in Pullman at 35,000-seat Martin Stadium and $800,000 for games played at 72,000-seat Husky Stadium."

Dumb asses. So much for my raise.

And that people, is public education at it's finest! Must be that "whole number" versus "phonetic computation" problem at the elementary level. Just play the Ducks or USC and you'll get national TV exposure and revenue evil stir

PS Will this affect the outcome of how DanS will lose his bet this season? rofl

Oh this has potential for a good comment or two but I am trying to change my ways, be mellow and not rip on the Huskies for going like 527 days without a W. It should be mandatory that the W gets turned upside down on their uniforms until they actually get a W...cheers

They could have just brought in some snow making machines to make QWEST a neutral site.

Maybe we could play Oregon at QWEST.
