Mike, When hubby was transferred from CA to Washington about 23 years ago, he PROMISED me when we crossed the CA-OR border that I would NEVER have to go back there again. So far, I haven't had to!  How are you going to hop on a train and come down here for a cold one/kick my ass? maybe if you really piss her off she will have good reason to cross the border to the land of fruits and nuts....

If they let you miscreants into WA I think there's hope for me too. we are trying to pass a law to stop the migration. califruits screwed up their state, then they want to move here and screw up ours.....

JG - My 30th HS reunion is next year in Fairfield. For all the "stay away you Californians" stuff I see on this board, I'm beginning to think there isn't a native of Washington on this site! I'm just a babe compared to you guys - 25th this year out of Healdsburg (on the once famous steelhead loaded Russian River  )

It doesn't look to me that you are doing any better up there.
At least with people from CA moving up there we have experience on how a state gets screwed up and know how to prevent it in the future. is it dont allow as many mexicans in? or is it to not allow action movie stars become governor? or is it to not allow any "hollywood" type atmosphere to take place?

At least with people from CA moving up there we have experience on how a state gets screwed up and know how to prevent it in the future. is it dont allow as many mexicans in? or is it to not allow action movie stars become governor? or is it to not allow any "hollywood" type atmosphere to take place? We already had Reagan, so schwartzensnitzel is no big deal. Except that he is trying to kill off all our fish.

I caught my first steelhead on the Russian 44 years ago.
According to Irie I haven't fished a day since.
With about 700 fish at the Dry Creek Hatchery this year, you may not ever again! Do you remember where you were on the river? I love to reminisce about the good ole days

And so began your long, downward spiral into steelhead addiction! Nice fish at any time in the history of the Russian, they just don't get much bigger than that!!! Caught my first steelhead when I was seven out behind Fitch Mountain. I had an old (even then) A.B.U. Garcia 2600, and actually, I still have that reel. NO drag except for the thumb - pretty much prepared me for life!

I've probably been up here since before you was just a twinkle in your daddy's eye. I caught my first steelhead by accident out of the Navarro river near Ft. Bragg back in 1974. I make it back to Cali a couple of time a year for business and to visit my brother in Napa... and even all there years later I still get a little homesick. I grew up fishing stripers and sturgeon in Suisun Bay and the delta around Rio Vista. I've backpacked through and fished trout in most of the Sierras too. I don't think I'd ever move back, but I still do miss the weather.

Actually Mike, I was at Boy Scout Summer camp and I had brought my trout rod with me. We were catching what we thought were trout... but were probably smolts with small black Rooster-tails. I made a cast towards a log jam and hooked something huge. I landed it and thought I had caught the biggest trout of my life. One of the camp counselors told me it was a steelhead... which at that time I didn't know what they were. It was about 8 pounds.
