Obviously you haven't read the thread about the massive movements of fish after night....
The fish for some reason are running at night time this year, and no one counts fish at night. If you watch the view cam from around 8:30 to 11:00 there are tons of fish going through the Oregon side, which means there are even more going through the Washington side.
I highly doubt that the run will hit 300,000 but the way the fish are moving through at night i wouldn't be surprised if it hits 200,000. However with the way fish are being counted/calculated we would be lucky if they "count" 130-150k fish.

These last few days they have been saying 1700 fish over the dam, yet you see fish in every frame at night and with 10-20 fish in some frames. I watched it on Friday night from around 8:30 to 9:00 and must have counted 200 fish.

So u know that for a fact their is a huge movement of fish after dark or that they appear on the fish cam at night? Have u ever considered that the PIT data is very valid and if more then 2-4% of the fish where actually passing at night they would have figued this out??? Have you ever considered that maybe, just maybe why they appear on the "still" camera shots" because they are actually hanging out in the ladder and not passing quickly by the camera as they while traveleing at normal speed????

Yeah, I did read it and that is why I posted. Yer missin' the point.
You gotta go with an "apples to apples" count. If fisheries ain't counting nights, and they didn't last year either, then counting night fish gives data not comparable to last years data. That is how they adjust the season. Gotta count them the same way...can't add another method and then pretend the sampling was the same.
You can count every fish if you jsut want to jack up the numbers (like when they continually lower escapement jsut so they can say they hit the goal), but you jsut screw the fishery that way.
