Almost done. Grouting tonight! If we drop a plate or glass, say good bye to it on the way down.

Tom Cox gets all the credit for the tile work. I just put the hardi backer board down. Tom is a fishing buddy, and he is just doing absolutely awesome work. Wait until I post a pic of the fireplace, as that is the spectacular work.
If you need tile work, Tom is "The MAN".

I am a banker, but I have developed a certain set of skills that would make me a big help to folks working on home improvement projects. My clients like the fact that I have developed a good set of calluses on my hands.
Last night consisted of painting bifold doors, tearing off spruce gussets on the deck that looked like ass (they were suggested by the city to the framer) and replacing them with Z-maxx stress rated appliances, building the enclosure for our tub in the master bedroom, disposing of a few mice caught in traps, building an access door to the attic, and babysitting by closet doors until midnight because the paint didn't want to dry and a few had something on them that made the paint not want to adhere (a nice value added design feature).
I'll grout, but setting tile is not my gig.

I tearing off spruce gussets on the deck that looked like ass (they were suggested by the city to the framer) and replacing them with Z-maxx stress rated appliances, The city suggested spruce gussets? I'm assuming as a connection betwen deck post and beam? That violates the city's own building code, but is pretty much common place for small jurisdictions. Especially when the building official/inspector is just another flunkie "know-it-all" who basically gives design/engineering inputs based on what he did on his own house and barn. LOL.

Yup, they suggested the spruce gussets, post & beam connectors. Now you know how F'd up they are.

Lookin' good!
As for grouting, well, wear knee pads, and have at it... its actually theh clean up AFTER grounting thats the pain in the arse. I think I washed the floor at least 8 times after I fished trying to get grout haze off the tile.
